It went below -50C a couple of days ago. Aside from some place in Siberia we were the coldest place on earth. Bit of a dubious claim to fame.

Ouch, that is cold! We've had it fairly mild so far, just a couple of degrees (celsius) minus.
The layot of the gauge is very scangaug'ish, but it doesnt look lika a scangauge2, what is that?

You have no idea, I would literally kill myself in that sort of weather. I've been in Florida for way, way to long to ever live in a place that actually snowed or got below 70 in the winter for that matter.

It's called a heater. Cars in Canada come with them.

I've got one in a box in the garage somewhere. My Miata spends winters in heated garage, don't think I've ever used my block heater.

Huh... I left south Florida on Saturday and am in San Diego now. We were bitching about the fact that it got down to 50°F (10°C) last night. This was a big deal.

I can't even imagine what oil looks like at -37°C.

Synthetic 0W weight oils can handle it pretty well.

Plus the block heater made my water temp say +25 on startup so oil must be within 25c of that.

Its the dino oil people who if they even get started have no oil to the top of the motor for over a minute - bye bye camshafts!

The transmission in the M3 i've been driving howls like a dying cat in sub 30*F temps. I bet it'd be seized solid in those temps.
