Default Blew off both of my belts

Anyone ever experience this before? I finally got the car out tn, go for a cruise. Full 20lbs of boost 1st through 3rd gear. Got on the high way my volt gauge just dropped to 8 volts, no power steering and rad temp was at 200F. I was pretty much shitting my pants cause i didnt know what was going on and the engine just kept getting hotter. Get home pop my hood both belts were blow off the pulleys. Alternator one is gone, powersteering is still hanging there. Anyone else running high boost blowing off belts?

Use a Stock or Gates Belt,I was trowing belts when using cheap belts.Do Not tighten them too much you will wear out the bearings in your Alt.,waterpump,A/C compressor...you get the picture. Also are your pullies modified in any way? That was one of my problems too...

This happened to me while I was towing a tire tailor, had my dad in the car, and was going up a hill. Of of a sudden the battery light came on and coolant started blowing all over my windshield.

here's my friend in the Corvette off the fetch my new belts. You can see a huge puddle behind the trailer where i previous sitting.

if you look closely you can see the belts are gone. Turns out the rad cracked and the engine overheated and what caused the belts to go flying, still autoxed on it though .

this now reminds me i need to sell that trailer...

It happened to me once. The rear belt became loose and took the belt infront of it off with it.

No pullies arent modified at all just painted the front of them red...makes it go faster. I picked up an alternator and new belts last night going to put them on today and see what happens. There is a tensioner gauge at work but works closed today. I swear if a belt comes off again i will lose my mind. **** im scared to go to 30lbs of boost now

You could sell it all and buy a Kia Forte.

You don't have a short nosed pre '92 crank wobble or a bad rubber isolator on your balancer, do you?

Errr...well its a 90. Im pretty sure the balancer is fine. I think its a short nose. 4 bolts in the crank pully right? I want to take the plunge for the ATI Damper but FFS its expensive. I swapped on the new belts. The alternator one must have been stretched like a dirty hooker even though it was a couple months old...the new one was tight and il still had about a inch of adjustment, the old one was maxed out.

Youre pretty lucky if you just blew them off. Had it happen to a friend on a track day. Instead of being blown off, it fell inwards towards the engine, wrapped around the pulley of the water pump and broke face off the water pump. It was instant, a huge cloud of white smoke appeared outta nowhere while he was chasing me.

He had to tow his car home the next day. And that was a bitch. Especially when it was at buttonwillow, and we live in northern california.
