Default Camshaft gear interchangeability

Will the intake cam gear from a '99-'00 fit onto a 1.6 cam?

I never tried it, but it should be the same.

I assume it will fit, based upon the fact that aftermarket cam gears are compatible with all 1.6 and 1.8 NA engines as well as the exhaust cam on NBs, just trying to make sure that I'm not missing something blindingly obvious. I know the VVT gear probably won't fit (and I don't care) but I'm looking for an easy way to get a cam signal and it strikes me that a '99 intake gear with two of the humps removed might do the trick.

'99 I and E Camshaft Pulley: BP4W-12-425

I have a feeling they'd interchange.

I'm up to trying to figure out how to get a 1 pulse per rotation signal off of one of my cams without drilling and tapping a hole through the relatively narrow spokes of a stock 1.6 gear and thus weakening it.
