Winter project of eliminating unnecessary wiring and connections in my bay. Car is a 1990 chassis with 1.8 swap, MS3x, LS coils so i have my igniter modified. Does the car still need this apparatus? Brief reading from a different forum says it has something to do with the OEM coils, but since my setup is completely different, I’m wondering if it is necessary. Thanks
You can ditch it, but i believe its for noise reduction in the speakers. It's easier to leave it and bolt it to a stud that's tucked under the fender, below where your thumb is in the photo or there abouts. If you want to clean your wiring, ditch the igniter.

I don't even have a radio anymore. I'll keep it for now though, good idea to tuck it back. Igniter is definitely going, I'm just going to solder the wires together further back on the harness and get it out of the way.

Looking at it again, I don’t see how it is necessary anymore, since it connects to the igniter through the third pin (VB) and that pin has essentially been removed. Is there any other way it would be involved?
