Default Connect to MS with phone

I recently bought a new phone and installed the MSdroid app on it. The phone has a type "c" USB plug. I bought a cheap cable (female USB to type c USB) and it doesn't seem to work. Any recommendations on where to get a cable? Thanks.

I believe you need a host mode cable, otherwise the port on the phone default appears as a device. The megasquirt is only ever a device, not a host. Something has to be the host...

You can also connect a serial to wifi or serial to bluietooth adapter to the MS. I have this and it's been working for years: Serial RS232 Wi-Fi Adapter with Advanced Functions

I tried doing this a few times but kept getting a dropped connection.

I eventually ended up just using my android tablet instead.

I'm finding this odd. My old phone had a standard mini USB and a female to mini USB cable. That
connected me to MSdroid. The type "c" cable must handle data different. Don't want to spend money on Bluetooth. The cable works fine on the laptop. I guess I'll just use that.

I believe you need a OTG cable.

Yup.
Mine kept dropping the signal with the OTG cable though.
