A dick joke? Seriously? You aren't even trying.

Put a little more effort into it and give me a good zinger.

And remember, "If it's not a Boeing, then I'm not going."

On my most recent trip from Florida to JFK, I flew out of SRQ instead of RSW as I normally do. As such, I found myself in an E-190, as opposed to the A320s that comprise the bulk of JetBlue's fleet.

The aircraft was reasonably pleasant and comfortable, although the cabin pressure system seemed to be under the control of an epileptic goldfish.

Has anyone else found this to be the case with these aircraft? In something this new, I'd have assumed the cabin environmental controls to be fully automated. Perhaps they need to look into implementing Abe's improved PID algorithm?

From what I've heard, commercial pilots start out the majority of the time on prop planes, aka puddle jumpers, and make about $20k/yr. Is this correct?

A good family friend of ours is a commercial pilot. He has a college degree from Northwestern Louisiana, which I hadn't heard of before I met him of but is apparently known for their aviation program. He then worked as a pilot & mechanic for a private company running mostly small business jets out of Houston. When he wasn't flying rich executives around, he was fixing planes. Apparently the pay wasn't great. He did that for the better part of 10 years before getting hired by Continental a few years ago. Now the money is better but he sees his wife & kid even less than he did before.

I don't know much about the hiring cycles of the major airlines, but it could be quite a while before you get that gig, and before you do it seems to me the money isn't great. But you will be enough to afford a wife & kid without resorting to gubbamint cheese.

I too would rather have my butt in a Boeing than my *** in an Airbus.

Regardless of your job you HAVE to be able to communicate holmes.

I can't tell you how many writing intensive classes we have to take for an engineering degree now. It's ridiculous, because enough of the highly recruiting companies come back and complain about smart engineers with poor writing/communication skills.

I would imagine a lot of normally technical jobs are now requiring the same. Invest in yourself now.

Sorry but when I come online, it's not exactly a top priority to be 100% grammatically correct and make sure every single word is spelled correctly. This is a miata forum, not my psyc. class.

Now money wise, the last time I checked, no major proffesion has you start at the top. Everywhere has some sense of seniority. When I finish here and start flight instructing I will be making almost 20k a year doing that. Yes, it does require a **** ton of hours to make that money but money is money at this point. After that, yeah some run-of-the-mill turbo-prop job that doesn't pay **** and has long hours. Some people luck out though. Piloting is like a lot of jobs where connections get you places. Such as my granddad's best friend is the owner of a major business jet company. My girls dad works at continental on airplanes. It's all about resources/connections.

So what you're saying is that one does not have to be educated well to fly planes? I'm not going to get all homo and have a dickswinging contest with you because most of us are just sitting here laughing at you anyway.

...you never know whose in the front...
BTW... it's "who's" as in "who is". "Whose" is a posessive form of "who". You wouldn't ask "Who is that cup over there?" would you? (Magna might)

What I'm saying is that typing on a miata forum who's/whose or lagit/legit has no standing for one's intellegience. Don't dish **** out if you don't want to hear anything back, makes YOU sound like a homo. But hey, what am I saying? There's always one toolbag that has to insert his 2 cents into a thread and then leave....guess that's you.

No one wants to read something that just so happens to sound like it was written by a 12 Y.O. What makes this forum an exception? You wouldn't pick up and buy a magazine when the front page says "Britnay speers gone crazey." Many of us proof read before we post. Makes our community more knowledgable and less bullshit

Use Firefox, it has built in spell check. If will underline words spelled incorrectly, which in you case will be entire paragraphs.

This thread should be changed to "Convince me to not keep these cars!".

When did I leave? I'm right here...sooo.......

Now, if you mean that I wasn't here to instantly reply to you, then yes...I left. I have a life. I went and checked up on my new house that is under construction, took my GF to get a smoothie, went for a little drive around Atlanta and had dinner. I apologize for "leaving" you hanging...I promise it won't happen again

p.s. - There is nothing you can "dish out" that I can't throw back at you. Oh and if I am "the toolbag", I guess that makes you the entire hardware section at Sears.

Well, with the way the Craftsman tools are becoming the low-rent/cheap brand... I figured it was fitting enough.

okay, i'm done playing ITG.

In all seriousness, I agree with the others in the sense that you need to prioritize. As for all the people saying to give up the car while you're on public assistance, I counter with this point. No offense to anyone, just playing devil's advocate because it's fun:

Many of you look forward to retirement. You're saying he also needs to wait until he's an old man to enjoy his convertible. Let's say he follows through with that and decides not to pick up a miata again until he fits the m.netter profile. At that point, he's older and possible taking care of himself. But, UH-OH, he's on social security at that point. TOO BAD. NO SPORTS CAR FOR YOU. You can't have a $2k sports car if you're sucking the public social security tit dry! You need to save your money for the inevitable health-care bills that come with age and for all those extra adult diapers you are going to need.

Long story short, no one can have anything nice, ever.

People who assume that public assistance is only for crackhead baby factories are stupid.

I'm sure your girl's Dad is ******* stoked you knocked up his daughter and will start out making "almost" $20k a year.

Dude, you know for a ******* fact that you're not interested in having this baby. Not once have I heard mention of the word "family". It's been blatantly ******* obvious you're not interested in spending your life with this girl who you've know about what??? 3 months? So, since you're not getting married, let me break it down for you:

In about 4 months, you're gonna start to realize how truly and completely fucked you are. She's gonna turn into a raging bitch because she finally realizes she has no future with you and she's starting to get big. Her parents are going to have crawled up your *** and set up a base camp... "Operation: Get this fucktard out of our daughters' life". You're gonna run into some newly out-of-the-Air-Force KC-10 pilot with 20,000 hours who himself can't get a job even flying a little Saab turbo-prop on the Nogales to Phoenix shuttle, who lets you in on all the new hire-stoppages that are pretty much industry-wide right now. You're gonna WISH that you'd gone back to my very first ******* post in this thread and had that $400 paternity test done so at least you'd know.

You're going to be absolutely miserable. The last thing on your mind is going to be your cars. You need to grab ahold of your head with some extra large vice-grips and pull that ******* thing out of your *** before it's too late. And by too late, I mean HER PARENTS HIRE A GOOD LAWYER AND WRITE YOU COMPLETELY OUT OF THE BABY'S LIFE! You might get lucky in the end and get a couple supervised visits a year... but don't count on it.
