I would like to revise my advice. Sell both cars and find yourself a nice economical (cheap on gas and insurance) car to drive until your economic situation improves. Don't even think about something sporty or something that you will put a stereo in or put rims on. Start today by making smart decisions that will help you get through this financially difficult part of your life. If I was in your situation I would not only sell the cars, but get rid of cable, internet, cell phone, etc....any and all extra spending.

As for the government aid, use it if it's available to you, it would be stupid not to. I've put enough in over the years, use some of what I put in so Braineacks will be around for someone that isn't on this forum. While you are getting assistance, just remember to use it because you need it and don't make it a lifestyle. As a parent you will want to do everything that you can to give your kid a better life than your own. Take care of your family and work to provide for them so you won't need help from others. Strive to be the helper of others that truly need it as opposed as the recipient of the help.

Keep working and do what you need to do to stay in school. The degree or certification that you will receive is worth more than anything you may have to sacrifice to make it a reality. Lastly, start thinking about how every decision you make now will affect you and your family in the long term. Good luck with everything.

You can look at it any way you want *******, but taking govt subsidies to pay for a baby because you'd rather spend your money on ******* cars rather than get private health insurance is the definition of scumbag.

The others posting here are right... you're young and dumb and nothing we're saying is gonna get through. Maybe when you're 37, and "your kid" calls you (who you see every other month because the bitch finally forced you to marry her and then divorced you 6 months later after she fell in love with the bartender on the cruise she took to Mexico with her latest gov't check) and tells you he just went and had a DNA test and you're not his Dad after all it will make sense what we're saying.

Do the right thing and have an abortion.

i agree to everything you said but the abortion part... even tho its only a fetus and you cant see it, its still your child. The right thing to do is man up and provide for your child! if you have the ***** to **** then you have the ***** to take what comes to you! dont do the easy way out and be a bitch and get an abortion. is one thing jerking off and watching it go down the drain another thing is killing an actual human with a heart! whats done its done and now you just take what comes and enjoy to the fullest.
Once your child is born your whole attitude will do a 180 and then u will do anything to give your child the best life you can provide for it

Finally somebody says it!

It isn't his choice in that matter, though.

And what the hell is with all you guys busting his ***** so hard? He's a ******* kid! I'm his age and I'd like to think I have my **** together and even I probably wouldn't be thinking straight on everything if I found out I got some chick preggers. Can all of you say you would have handled everything perfectly or "the right way" when you were a dumbfuck in college? I know I wouldn't.

Not that I don't agree with what most of you are saying, but this guy just turned old enough to drink legally and now his life is going to change completely in a way he didn't foresee...cut him some slack. Constructive criticism maybe instead of bashing?

For all we know, she may have cheated on him and it's not his kid. Or she may miscarry or decide to abort.

The whole point of this thread is that he's made it clear that he can't "provide for his child". Well, maybe he can... after all, he's managed to save up $500!!! OMG!!! YOUR salary is going to provide for his child and tens of millions of other childred who if they're parents had manned up to begin with and had the foresight to put on a ******* condom never would have been born.

You can't have it both ways... either you're cool with the gov't giving money to people who choose to have children they can't pay for or you aren't. I am not. Wear a condom and don't have children... or don't wear one, get pregnant, and still don't have one... either way I don't give a **** as long as I'm not paying.

My wife was a private massage therapist for years (legit, no happy endings) and one of the most important things she did was manage her private health insurance. She shopped around, did the math, made the sacrifices, but she paid for it herself, and didn't use the local emergency room as her primary care-giver like the majority of people who would rather buy dubs than do the right thing for their families.

It also seems odd that I've mentioned a paternity test twice and the OP has failed to comment... not that people need to comment on every one of my suggestions, but this one seems to be pretty ******* important and he's ignoring it.

Well, we are going to have this unplanned baby and looks like everyone here is going to have to pay for it. I may not be paying a **** ton to the government now but SHIIIIITTTT when I actually finish and get a good job and do pay a ton...I will then know what I'm paying for....think of it as a loan;-) Call me some moronic, careless college student...fine. This commercial pilot/degree packin' retard will continue to enjoy his turbo miata and wack *** 500 bucks is a lot of money lifestyle. I'm going to finish my one year left in school at all cost. If that means using government money to keep my life together and keep my being able to stay in school...then that's fine with me. Resources are there to be used and I'm going to use the hell out of them. I'm glad to be a 21 year old turbo miata guy than an old **** with one. Better enjoy it while I can so I don't end up turning into one of you butthurt, dooshbags.

BTW, got my foodstamps paper in the mail today

Ordinarily if it was a long-term relationship (years, not months) then I'd be less inclined to question it. But mister Turbo_4 posted that the GF is "about two months" pregnant, and the whole ordeal with his ex seems pretty recent to me. I dunno, it's tough to ask for a paternity test without making yourself look like a colossal *******, which could be problematic if he has real feelings for this girl. Kind of like a prenup- damned if you do, broke if you don't. Before the kid is born, for the amnio you need either her permission or a court order so she's definitely gonna know you're an *******, whereas if you wait until after, you can surreptitiously do some cheek swabs and mommy will never know. That way no bridges get burned unless they need to be, and you can still escape. Obviously this is something I've never had to deal with so this should all be taken with a grain of salt. But I agree that for unmarried college kids it might not be a bad idea. He should definitely man up and assume it's his until molecular biology says otherwise. Might be time for a little Maury Povich up in hurrrrrrr.

Congrats. Dont marry her unless you know for sure like 100% positive you can be with her for the REST OF YOUR LIFE. Because if there are problems now; imagine adding a crying baby to the mix. Makes things stressful.

My step sister got married when she and her boyfriend found out she was pregnant. Less than 3 months after the baby was born divorce papers were being signed with him fighting for custody.

One of the guys i went to high school with got a girl preggers and she was 3 years younger. They had lots of problems before and thought it would get better after the baby was born. WRONG. They broke up for after the baby was born. But after about 6 months he got his act togethor (accepting the fact that he cant just go party) and they are togethor at this time.

Not saying this happens to everyone but just my knowlege with this situation. Its a whole **** ton easier to break up with somone than to divorce someone. TBH i was in the same boat as you a year ago (when i was 18 she was 15) Decided that it wasnt in us to deny something thriving to live. Well she miscarried and allowed me to finish my welding degree. It wasnt easy but we stayed togethor till may this year when i finally had to call it quits.

Remember you have 2 heads. Think with the one on top of your shoulders.

500 bucks is a lot of money when you're in college. Problem is the baby won't care about dollars and will **** through twelve diapers a day regardless.

I am totally okay with government aid going towards someone going through a situation similar to yours. The problem arises when you fail to do everything you can to provide for your family and get off government aid. I just can't believe you do not see how selfish you sound.

Also who said you have to own a turbo miata when you are an old man. I am completely financially stable and could handle your problem with ease, and yet somehow I own a turbo miata. Guess what, I don't make **** for a living either. Oh and I'm 23. Oh well, there will always be people like you in this world :/

I think some of you are being a bit overly harsh, but I can also agree that you not doing everything you can to be sure this baby is going to be taken care of is bad. Don't be selfish and try to keep a car you don't need. I don't really have a problem paying my taxes to help someone like you, cause there are far worse out there not going to school and trying to get ahead. Everyone is broke when they are 21 and in school, especially when a kid is on the way. But seriously though, if you aren't doing all you can, it makes you look really bad. Use the food stamps, but also sell the cars you don't need, and don't live above your means. I'm 23 and I'm trying to stay single (away from possible kids) as long as I can to get my **** straight before I give my life and money over to someone else for the next 18+ years. I'm also broke, but I don't have to ask for government aid, and if I did, you can bet I would be selling everything I had to to avoid that. Neither of my parents got a free ride when I was born. They lived in a tiny ratty mobile home until I was 1, they worked hard and they did all they had to do to provide for me and eventually built a suitable home for me to live in. You even considering keeping a turbo fun car when a child is on the way is a joke. That being said, keep up with the school and get on your own feet one day soon and keep motivated. Don't take a free ride for longer than you have to.

Oh no poor little baby he's only 21 and can't afford his little day dreams of having a fast turbo miata. You **** **** Boone feels bad for you! I don't mind helping and paying for people who really need it and don't have food on their table. But your just leaching of us. If you said to us that you were selling all your fun cars and you were trying your hardest to man up then we wouldn't mind helping you out. But since your a selfish **** Boone wants to help you. Kids don't have kids! I just turned 23 two weeks ago. I'm married with a kid. I work my *** of doing **** construction and I go to school at night! I have a 3 bedroom house with a 3 car garage in Connecticut which it equals to a six bd house if were you live( I know this cause my wife is from Texas and her parents still there) and a miata that will blow yours out of the water. You don't hear me complaining about being young and being a little bitch in college... It's called working hard for what you want. So enjoy being a selfish ******* parent and hopefully the baby doesn't come out like you. With that said I hope the baby is healthy and goodluck! One day ull look back at it and relize how immature and selfish you were. Been there done that

Where else but MiataTurbo will you find a person discussing food stamps and an '03 WRX in the same thread?

Well, ClubRoadster maybe...

I'm not going to lock it (because I hate being "that guy") but I really don't see much of a point here. Turbo_4 will find out what reality is like soon enough when he graduates with his freshly minted license (I do hope you're getting ATP out of this) and starts pounding the tarmac.

Wow, just wow.

Turbo, it's not what you're doing that we have a problem with...it's your attitude about it.

I'm all for helping someone out through rough times. I imagine you're also getting grants for school, which is cool as long as you study hard and don't use that money to go get drunk or tune your car instead of buying books and helping with school costs.

I've never qualified for financial aid because my wife and I have always worked. I could have stopped working, and made almost as much just pulling off the system, but I didn't. WHY? Because I didn't have to. I worked night shift in a machine shop through 3 1/2yrs of community college. An associates degree takes a little longer that way, but I did it. I would go to class from 7-1, hit the gym and grab some lunch, and work from 2:30-11pm. My wife and I were like ships passing in the night since she worked from 6am-2:30pm+. I paid my own way, and graduated Summa *** Laude Assoc. of Science, and got accepted to one of the top ten engineering schools in the country.

Now that I'm commuting 200miles a day to that school I can't work like I did, but still work weekends and breaks to save up. Mind you my daughter was born 2 1/2yrs ago, about 6 months before I transferred. She's lever lacked for anything and we've never drawn any support.

Pull support if you need it, and for as long as you need it. Just don't be one of those asshats that used to sit behind me and talk about when they got their grant checks and where they were going out to drink all in the same breath.

Oh, and clean up that attitude. No one wants to help a selfish dick, and most girls won't put up with one for long either. They also make pretty shitty parents.

And don't get so pissy...if you go back and read your posts in this thread...I'd say you pretty well brought it down on yourself. Joe's right, food stamps and new WRX shouldn't be in the same thread.

ON TOPIC: You can keep the turbo Miata without a problem. Just realize it's no longer a priority, and it needs to be kept in context of everything else that's going on in your life. Work on it in your spare time, enjoy it when you can. For those of us that bust our asses to support our own families there are rewards to be reaped. These rewards entail but are not limited to: success at your job, hard ***** every (other) night, an off-limits-bitch garage, big smiles from our kids, and a peaceful sleep at night.

It weird how the last few threads of people selling their cars because they are having an unexpected baby didn't turn out this way....and there have been a few in the last few months.

One word...

ADOPTION

Obviously if you guys are meant to be together..you can knocker her up later again when you are ready for it. There are many nice white middle and upper-class couple who can't have kids that wouldn't mind adopting one. And before anyone says anything, just about my entire family is adopted..me, my brother (although we are actual brothers...18 months apart), my mom, my uncle and my grandmother were all adpoted. I'd like to think I turned out OK. I'd also be willing to bet that my biological mother was in a situation where he couldn't take care of me and rather then living on the verge of being broke...she gave me up. I have no hard feelings about it at all..given that I am 26, bought a brand new $300k house in Atlanta (I really don't like to brag.. but for the sake of this thread i'll post numbers), I have a very nice turbo Miata..and have had 2 other nice Miatas before, I fucked my credit a few years ago and have since payed off nearly $20k with cash to old debts and now my credit is over 100pts higher then it was a year ago and still going up, i've never been to jail, i'm not a wanted criminal....oh and all of this with no government assistance ....or even a high school diploma (I do have my GED though).

How have I managed this? Working very hard for it...AND being smart about financial stuff (my gf being an accountant might have something to do with it too).

With adoption you can stay in touch with the adopting parents..it does not have to be completely anonymous.

Oh btw... DRIVING/OWNING A CAR IS NOT A F.UCKING RIGHT... IT'S A DAMN PRIVILEDGE.

I still think people should have to pass some kinda of exam before being allowed to have children and that everyone should be on mandatory birth control (guys too) until the age of 25.

I can read your name Scott....
My credit wasn't completely in the gutter as I was still able to buy a car before paying off my outstanding debts....and I did just qualify for a house. Within the next year I should be well over 700 again (I had a nice 740 before I funked up a few years ago :( )

I just can't get over the fact that you're making it sound like I'm some lazy ****. I got to school all day and work all night. So if I don't sell every last one of my worldly possessions I'm a moocher? It may be selfish but it is at the same time also human to want to hold onto at least something. When you already have gotten rid of everything in your house that makes you happy and costs money obviously you aren't going to want to get rid of the 1 thing left...your car. I place both of them on the market around 2 months ago. You could even look back in the fs section and see the turbo miata fs...I just haven't gotten any bites. Nothings being sold if A) it's not an okay price B) if people aren't looking to buy. The fact that I'm going to be paying in big time to the gvt when I get my career going and when I'm young I used a little of it's services...seriously doesn't sound like a big deal to me. These programs were designed for poor people...that's the only people who can get approved. So what does that say? You have to be someone who has no money, no assests, and has a lot of bills. Welcome to my world. I just can't understand how having a 100k+ mileage 12 year old car with a junkyard turbo setup is irresponsible...Having two cars...sure.
