Angry Crank no spark

Completely stumped here. I have tried my speeduino, the stock ecu, 2 coil packs and a set of COPS. I cant get a spark at all. I've checked the wiring and they have power and ground. Sadly I don't have an oscilloscope to check for the signal being sent to the coils. Any thoughts as to why? car is a mk2.5 1.6 EDIT: i have attached a datalog aswell

I think I figured it out, the battery voltage drops to low 8 volts during cranking. I bet thats not enough for the coils to function correctly

I saw that as well, looked like 8-9v while cranking, with a low of 6.5 on initial in-rush. The coils will work fine at that voltage, it's whether or not the speeduino will continue to function. Google says it's good to 8-9, but looks like your resting voltage in mid 11s, definitely not great. Put a trickle charger on it for ~12 hours and see if it helps, I have my doubts but the battery needs it regardless.

alright good progress today. Turns out coil 1 is dead on the original set. Switched to cops and it sparks but only when jumping it with running car. Battery must be completely dead.

Get a trickle charger. Put it on and leave it alone for 8-12 hours, it should come back to life. 11.5 resting voltage is a weak battery, but not dead.

So basically you were right to a degree. I charged it over night and it would spark for only about 3 cranks (I’m dialing in my cold start) after that it will only crank no spark and I noticed when my gf let the key go from starting it would spark as the engine was still spinning. Battery can’t provide enough current for the starter and the coils at the same time. Honestly such a weird case. I was using a timing light to check for spark aswell. Edit: to verify the battery was the problem I jumped it with a running car and it would spark just fine during cranking.
