does this trunk make any usable downforce?
Regarding the original question of down force, of course a wing will provide more down force than a spoiler. But the spoiler will be a bit less ostentatious.
You can add some effectiveness to your wing by affixing a line of vortex generators to the rear of your hardtop. This will effect the boundary layer of air coming off of your hardtop and keep it tighter to the back window and trunk lid, thereby increasing the effectiveness of a trunk mounted spoiler lip. It was good for 10 mph when my father used them. And it is easy to make them yourself like my father did. And I'd do it, but I don't have a hard top and I'm not competing at that level.
Think of the little vortex generators that the Evo MR has at the trailing edge of the roof to help the effectiveness of its rear wing.

"Too nice to track" sounds like an m.netter to me. "Awww....I can't bear to cut into this brg....it's too nice...." If you are going to track it, then track it, if it's too nice, then keep it as your street car. But then again, I know that some might argue that track drivers are safer than a lot of stupid street drivers so who knows...
If your thinking of going the vortex generator route, Sport Compact Car Magazine did a write up on installing them. They bought them from a trucking company for a couple of bucks each, and easily adapted them to fit on their 08 WRX project car.

Yes, I do agree. That's what I'm talking about......The "green" is a very nice car now.
Give the same love to your "clown" car - keep it NA - let me loose with the welder and metal sheers - and you sir, can have your cake and eat it too.
Whats with the California Plates? I thought you lived in the fine republic of austin? I figured your trucker buddies would kick your ***, for having Cali plates on your otherwise fine car.

Besides, owning most of 949's stock in the purchase of god knows how many sets of 6UL's, those "anchors" for wheels aren't even worth being used as table bases for this car.
Now I do question the hitch though..... we all know Hustler's fetish for implements and attachments.
Wait, are you going to make sweet love to "Destiny"'s tailpipe or drive the f-ing thing?
Man up, brother! You are going soft on us. What happened to the "track demon?"
What happened to spanking arrogant bastards who had gazillion dollar cars and didn't know how to drive them. What happened to taking vengeance against all who scorned the little Miata.
Please don't let the noobs see this thread. It's not too late to edit...

Spare trunk it is. I forgot about my divine quest to rape the souls of rich power-bottoms.
That's not my car in the pic...I wouldn't ever have a miss-matched body panel, ugly ******* wheels, and I have pearl in the paint. Blood drinking will commence...in sleeper form for now. I guess there's so awesome-ness in showing up to the track in a relatively stock looking miata.

i think big wings are also sleeper factors......people will think you are just some stupid ricer with a slow *** car and big wing. haha
if you got the power to back it, go ahead and buy one. Try it out for a week or two. If you are not comfortable with it, then sell it.
