So I was connecting the battery cables to the battery and it sparked a few times, didn't think anything of it, and then I heard a pop at the front of the car. The car has no power whatsoever now. Could I have blown a fuse or is the battery dead? Appreciate everyone's time

Also, if I wanted to find a solution about this sort of issue, where on this website might I try? Thanks again

 

Fusebox under the hood. There's a large 80amp fuse that's probably blown - and hopefully that's all that's blown. Are you sure you hooked the terminals up correctly?

 

Terminals are hooked up correctly and I replaced the fuse. I hooked the battery up with the new fuse and then it blew again

I also made sure that the ground right off the negative terminal was hooked up

 

Make sure you take off the negative first and then positive
Then put positive on first and negative last.

Possible you popped it again when you reconnected.

Also, why was the battery disconnected in the first place?

 

Yeap - something is broken, and it's now going to be a huge pain in the *** to figure out what it is. Don't suppose you replaced the starter or alternator as well?

 

The battery was disconnected because I took the motor out

 

I did not replace them but I did take them off and put them back on

 

Well at least that makes it easier - you've got a dead short, most likely at the alternator but possibly at the starter. Make sure the wiring is on the correct stud(s).

 

this wont be hard after knowing what you worked on.

The power to the starter is before the main fuse so it can't be that. Alternator is post main fuse. I'd say that is most likely.

 

maybe even look for a short or exposed wire at the alternator, where it could be grounding.

 

Well I just checked again and the alternator and starter are hooked up

 

Oh nvm, I just realized that the wire with a circular fitting goes on the alternator and is not a ground lol

 

Do not take it personally, but calling a "ring terminal" a "circular fitting" constitutes grounds for grounding a rookie who grounds a B+ wire.

 

I'm pretty sure that's your problem right there [scratches belly and spits on the ground]. You outta look into fixin' that.
