Default Got ripped off

So I sold my old 94 ECU to this guy off of Miata.net He was in weatherford, Tx. About 5 hours from me. He wanted to do paypal for the payment, but since I don't have my account working right now I just asked him for cash or a check. I gave him my cell number and he never would give me his. He always kind of steered away from it. The day I shipped it I told him I shipped it. The response I got was "Wow, thank you. You are a trusting man. Payment will be sent as soon as I get off work today. Sorry, I did not get it off sooner." 3 days later no money....I sent it I PMed him asking if he had sent the payment yet..... no response. For the next week I continued to send him messages, but didn't get any response. So I called up information so I could try to get his phone number. Basically couldn't get the number . Sold the ECU for $150. It is pretty gay, guess I wont sell anything ever again unless I meet with them in person or use paypal. I sold my injectors before off of Houstonmiataclub.com the transaction went fine. O well

P.S. The guy has never logged back in at Miata.net his name is sleekcivic2004

so you shipped it out before you ever even got the payment in the mail? Sounds like you kinda walked into that not even blindfolded.

None the less though, it sucks and im sorry to hear it happened.

well I think it can go both ways. From a private seller, I don't want to pay for something I haven't received yet. What if they send me something different, broken Etc.

traditionally it is the buyer that takes that risk. if im selling something I expect payment up front. if the buyer isn't willing to do that then I won't sell it to them. its a big world, someone else will buy it in their place.

Sorry to hear that man, what you can do is contact the admin and see if he logged the guys IP address. From there you can figure out if another username has logged in under that IP, and somehow you can get him to divulge some information (you using a different screen name yourself). I just recently got ripped off on ebay. Bought a turbo from a guy for $280, exchanged a handful of emails with him right after purchase so i thought he was legit. Turns out the pictures he had on his auction were ripped from yahoo store, and I have never heard anything since. Even tried calling his home phone, found it was his ex-girlfriends number, claims she has no idea how to get hold of him (she may be in on it as well I assume) and now I'm out $280.......I've contacted PayPal and flagged the credit card company. I'm hoping if PayPal can't get me my full amount, my credit card company can. Only time will tell.....

Recouping the ECU is easy if you've got an address. Just pay him a visit one night. Convertible tops respond well to a Spyderco.

If you just didn't have the heart to do permanent damage...

Used Fedex, I got a email from them today saying they charged me $10 extra for the delivery, because the address was incorrect. The address the guy gave me was 1125 S. Rusk St. Weatherford, TX 76086. Fedex said it was 1125 S. Rush St. Weatherford, TX 76086. I tried both addresses with information but couldn't get a number for either. It is alittle bit outside of Dallas.
I just need to get his phone number.

You're in a very small minority. I have payment in hand before I ship parts, period, no exceptions. I've never been ripped off.

I encourage anybody passing by or residing in the area to **** this guys car up in any way possible. since he ripped off a person for $150, he deserves $1500 in damage, which may take more than merely paint. Broken limbs count too and are preferable anyways.

I emailed one of Miata.net's administrators last night. They said they don't have any contact information really and they wouldn't be allowed to release it anyways, but they did say that he logged on this morning. So I logged to see that I didn't have any messages ..... but I did check my track messages and he did read one of them. So if it was him that read it, he definitely knows. I'm going to call that number and see what happens.
