Haggerty Insurance

Haggerty Insurance
I've not dumped as much money as some of you here, but my car is worth, to me, a lot more than nada value. My sister writes insurance and says I can get Haggerty's coverage for a claimed amount, and pay less than my full coverage Progressive policy. I was going to put a 10k value on it. Has anyone else done this? Is it a good deal? Car is in excellent shape, inside and out. Drivetrain under 100k. Pic for attention.

I’m using Hagerty too…& like Ted, I believe I’m at 25k. I also used for many years with a 66 Stang I use to own. Value was 30k or 35k on it. They needed photos of the Mustang, but otherwise all was good.
Generally, they want the car in a garage every night and you need another car as you’re daily. I think I pay around $500 for the year and I carry much higher limits due to an umbrella policy that requires it. My Mustang (before the umbrella & a few years ago now) was $250 a year.
Much cheaper and way better then the blue book 2k your gonna get from progressive for your car if you total it.

I have had Haggarty on my miata and 81 c10 both for $10k for 4-5 years with no problem (which maybe I really should bump those up with today's values) $330 annually for the combined policy, they sent someone out to take pictures of the miata when it was first insured but that was no problem but never did that with the truck

You can get policies like that at other places as well for secondary vehicles. I have an agreed value on my CTS-V with West Bend Insurance since it's a rare version and KBB is way under market. My mileage limit is like 6k miles per year which I don't even get close to since it's a weekend car.

I've done the same with American Modern. Car must be in a garage and not your daily driver. Otherwise, it's MUCH cheaper for A LOT more coverage. Both my play vehicles and the boat are with American Modern.

I got my quote. $550 for 12 months full coverage. $1,000 deductible for collision and comp. $20k declared value. It's funny, they want to know all your aftermarket expensive goodies. I wouldn't want Progressive to know that I had them. I couldn't duplicate the car for $20k, but I could get close to a replacement. I'm paying $680 a year now, for full coverage, with $250 deductible on comp and $500 on collision. My biggest issue is not cost savings, but if my car gets totaled, burned or stolen now, I probably wouldn't get more than $6k. It's a 22 year old car with 180k miles on it. That's all that Progressive sees.

I have State Farm and had asked them about increasing the covered value of the vehicle. They said all that needed to be done was to have it appraised and then they would agree to that declared value of the appraisal.
Never tried getting insurance through anyone else. I don't put that many miles on the car a year but I do drive it more than I'd be limited to by other companies.
