Default Hello Everyone!!

Well, just though i'd poke in here.....finally. Some of you may recognize me from other Miata forums.

Im Mike, im 24 and currently on my 3rd Miata.... a nice green 99. The daily grind is computer engineering and on the weekends i see how many miles i can put on the car. I previously had a heavily modd'ed 96 that ended in a bad rollover :( Like a few others, im jaded on the M45's potential and looking for the next step.... and i gotta stay ahead of my GF's 05 MSM lol.

Hope i can bring in some useful information/experience and learn some new stuff from you guys as well!!!

Anyway here are some pics of my car now...

I remember seeing you and talking a bit at Miatas at The Gap last year when you had all the vinyls on. If you're switching to turbo, you'll need a bigger intercooler for sure. :gay:

Why'd you decide to ditch the 787b get-up??

I think your car looks great either way. Very clean now.

I've seen your car around. Didn't realize that big *** intercooler was for a M45

This picture rocks!

??

Drifting = not optimal airflow to front + engine running at full bore makes for lots of heat. So i wanted to get the intake charge temps as low as possable. Also wanted to leave plenty of headroom for later mods/boost

Wonder if air:water IC would be better for drifting...
You can reduce the type size in your sig if you really want to list everything.
Where's your turbo project parts list?

^ Im here for research.BTW, i have heard about your car from a buddy of mine. Do you go to RA much? I think he might have gone up there and talked with you.... or something like that. Anyway, i know he is on here... name is Bryan aka wildfiresomethingoranother.

I was looking at the Turbo Specialties kitfor the mani/turbo/dp/oil lines and sell off the rest. But then i started looking around at what i can piece together and this is what i have so far

BEGI Cast mani
BEGI DP w/seperated wastegate
Not sure which turbo i want to get, i'd assume since i want to use the BEGI DP, im going to need to go with a Garrett T25XX series turbo because of the exhaust flange... unless BEGI has different flanges or most of the T25 series uses the same DP flange. Looked at the price of a new GT2560 and they are around $800-900. I was also thinking about some of the DSM turbos, but since they work well with the 2.0, im not sure how they'd act to the 1.8.Or maybe even a Nissan BB S15 turbo. Im looking to run 9-10psi and want something that will be making 5-6psi by 3k rpms as the day is my daily driver. Power? If i can get to the 220-230rwhp i'll be happy. Since im running a voodoo box, i doubt i can get to 250rwhp unless 305cc injectors can support that much power.

And something tells me i should have posted all that in the DIY section lol. I want to look around before just jumping in and asking a question that has been asked 3498574576 times. (we all know how that goes)

As for the w/a ic, i dont think it would be good for drifting as it would heatsoak quickly. Between runs, there is quite a bit of idle time sitting still... and many events are run in warm weather (ok...HOT weather).

I race at Rd. Atlanta about 2-3/year now that I have two babies at home. I will be there for the ARRC in the Scottish flagged ITA Miata aiming for the podium in the enduro.

Many righteous deals pass through the classifieds here. A lot of them are components already paired up, which can save a lot of work and time.
