Default Hesitation at ~3,800-4,100

Not turbo yet, still completely stock (sans exhaust). Getting ready to slap the turbo on (Have everything, yay!) but one thing that has always bugged me is that I get a little bit of hesitation from 3,800-4,100rpms. It's not bad enough to stop me from accelerating (like bad plugs and wires) but it's enough to notice.

I've unplugged the o2 sensor and it just makes it over 9,000 times worse. Plugs and wires were replaced a couple thousand miles ago.

I was thinking it's a bad ground, but if it was I don't think it'd be happening so consistently at those RPMs. Bad coilpack maybe? I have no idea. Any help would be appreciated.

do you have large jumps in your timing map around that area?

Stock ECU. If you saw my MS thread I ended up pulling it out for now.

I'm interested in this thread too cause my 96 does the same thing. Stock ECU. I changed plugs, wires, coil pack, and timing belt. It's still there. I'm thinking it's a clogged cat or dirty injectors.

I had a similar issue in my S4 and it was actually the clutch slipping.

Mine's a new clutch so that rules that out. I'm still going with cat on this one. My 96 has 220k and I have no idea how much on the cat. Cat doesn't look stock compared to my 95 one.

I don't know about the cat. When my cat died I could barely accelerate past 3k, all the way through to redline. It wasn't just a small section that was affected, and it wasn't just hesitation, the car simply fell flat on its face.

Like someone said, what injectors are you running?
