Horrible Experience: Mazmart!
#21
They screwed up on delivery, and then they sold an incomplete kit.
Why else would one go through a shop for parts but to have decent customer service, legitimate delivery, and actually getting what you paid for?
All three were tossed out ;p

90% of the Torsen Swaps I have bought or sold usually did not come with axle nuts... (I always inform my buyers) HOWEVER...
You did not deserve the terrible service, telephone manners or incorrect information about using the 1.6 axle nuts.
I seem to remember that Honda Civic axle nuts would fit, but a could be a wrong.
Good Luck,

I was told multiple times on my initial phone call that the kit contains everything you need except the oil. If I'd been informed initially, or even if I'd been told politely yesterday that the nut was the customers responsibility, none of this would have been an issue. The rudeness and disrespect is what pushed this situation over the edge, IMO.

Go uninstall your diff, driveshaft and axles. Install a new diff, driveshaft and axles. Call to inquire as to missing pieces to the kit you bought. Get told incorrect information (if you're right about the 94-95.5 axles, then these definitely aren't 94-95.5 axles) and then hung up on. Then uninstall the diff, driveshaft and axles you just installed. Then reinstall your old diff, driveshaft and axles. Then come back and tell me it's petty.
I understand the situation sucks, and the CS didn't seem to make things better. If they told you it would work and it didn't and they had no resolution until this, that does suck, so more power to you.
I have been in your boat before. I was kinda enough to help a friend install his diff. would of been done within 2 hours. his axle was stuck and we proceeded to spend the rest of the day breaking and buying tools to remove the axle. we ended up having to put it all back together with the original parts. I was repaied with man-love, however.
I think my problem is I'm spolied as I have two dealerships here that would be able to get me the axle nuts parts I need asap.
curious, are they one piece axles with the green section?

Sorry for the delayed response. You'll notice that I'm not around here much late at night, as I'm typically in bed by 10PM, since I have to be up at 5AM M-F. So this is my first chance seeing this thread.
I'm sorry that your kit was delayed. Here is the background:
When we originally packaged your kit, we noticed that one of the axle's boots was damaged. A damaged boot could mean or lead to a bad joint. So I made a decision to get you another axle. We did not have any others in stock, so we had to source them. It took a few days. Sorry about that, but I stand by the decision.
I prefer to send 94-95 half style axle shafts with kits, as they are easier to install than the later style. 1.6 nuts fit on 94-95 half style axles. Apparently we sent you a set of NB axles. 1.6 nuts do not fit on NB axles. So it is our custom to provide the nuts if we send the newer axles. And obviously, we were not careful enough in packaging and forgot to send the new nuts. I did not know that we substituted the NB axles until yesterday evening, after our phone call.
Which is a good intro to the phone call topic.
If things had gone exactly as described by you, then indeed I would have acted in a less than honest manner. It's not my intention to bring all aspects out, but I'll just mention 3 points--as to some degree I think I need to share Mazmart's side
And for what it's worth, the nut in question is Mazda part GJ21-33-042B and is retail $6.58/ea.

- I was unaware that you had the newer axles at the time
- You told me you had already purchased new nuts from the dealer
- I did hang up the phone, after you said a certain "F" word at me 10 times. I counted, and hung up at 10. And for the record, I interrupted what was probably time 11 with "Thank you for your business, have a nice evening," before putting the phone down.

Sam always amazes me with his patient and wise responses, that man never runs out of patience, he said wait for the other side of the story, and sure enough, there is a valid and honest explanation IMHO.
This was a deal that went less than ideal, but nothing to turn me away from Mazmart if I ever need something from them, keep up the good work.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA! Pdexta, you dipshit. You knew we would get the whole story.
I think most people who buy parts/kits/used pieces over the internet understand there's always a small chance that something may go wrong. In this case, it did. There was also a small misunderstanding on Ben's part about exactly what you had received. It was an oversight, something that happens. In that respect, I completely feel your pain, but I also understand that IT HAPPENS! Respectable companies make good on things like that even when it costs them.
But I don't even think that's what most people on this board were worried about. The Miata community prides itself on being a bunch of "good guys". When we hear that one of our own was less than stellar when it comes to customer relations, it really gets out hair up. I didn't even know that it was Ben who you were dealing with... all I knew was that it was a "Miata guy", and Miata guys just don't do eachother like that. I was genuinely worried that someone at MazMart treated you badly by hanging up on you. That kind of **** gets around quick... bad for business, bad for the community.
But instead it turns out he probably would have gone out of his way to help correct the situation, but instead you lost your mind, cussed him out, and he very politely ended the conversation. I would not have been that polite, customer or not. If your self control and vocabulary is such that you resort to repeatedly using the word "****" during a phone conversation, and you forget to mention that when you complain on the internet, then YOU have absolutely no credibility, and end up looking like a douchebag.

BTW: perhaps Ben is more man than I...I only assume there had to be some frustration, probably warranted, in the tone of his voice.

Please, no need to jump the guy. He did spend in the area of $1100 with us, and he was missing a part that we should have included. His gripe was legitimate (though I have to admit the delivery method of the complaint could have been constructed more carefully).
Mistakes were made. A problem occurred. Level headed men should have solved it. Unfortunately this was not the case. I wanted to resolve, but OTOH, I'm not going to put up with someone cussing in my ear. I'll still send the nuts out if they're needed.

I understand both sides since I have been on both ends of a situation like this, it is easy to get mean when you feel like you were screwed, that is why I always try the nice way first now because the cussing way never lead to any resolutions. From the sellers side, of someone cusses at me, I do the same thing Ben did, I am not gonna listen to it, call back when you calm down.

<3 Ben. Whoever failed with the axle nuts, kick them in the sack for making a headache for everyone...and then dent that NB...and then drink beer.
To the OP: That dealer must be like the one near me...they jack the **** out of parts and expect people not to notice.

First, expecting axle nuts to be included with JUNKYARD parts is douchery...UNLESS THEY ARE SPECIFIALLY PROMISED.
Second, failing to fully include both sides of the story is further douchery.
I figured as much when I first read the complaint.
Third, had the customer acted reasonably and not like a douche it would seem they would have already had the nickle and dime parts in question.
The people who throw the biggest fits about 'service' and parts usually have the least to complain about. I know that from experience.

every time I call Mazmart they are way more expensive than Planet Miata. A for instance, I called for a brake master cylinder resovoir. Mazmart said they couldnt seperate it from the master cylinder so they would sell me complete for 65 bucks. Call Planet Miata and they said they didnt want to seperate so they would throw in the mastercylinder with the resevoir for 25 bucks. I still call Mazmart but have found better prices
