Guys My favorite shows back on!!!!

Someone posted a datalog from a FI 2.5 motor TDR did.
http://forum.miata.net/vb/attachment...5&d=1388349586

I believe the worry is so much timing early, yet showing no KR, so now we have Moto saying TDR is desensitizing knock sensors, but TDR says no and sends the latest tunes file to a 3rd part who says there indeed is no change to knock sensitivity, but Moto says it is an incomplete file.

What do you make of it.

I like how the timing and boost both taper off at the top of the rev range on that log.

I've seen worse logs than the above.

Given the track record of this tuner I was expecting much worse too. The irony is the log for the boosted motor is leaner than the log for the N/A motor.

what's the CR on that 2.5L? I ran 16° of timing at 15psi on my 1.6L...

I'm assuming the combustion chamber is about a billion times better designed.

Alternatively, tune it yourself: Openflash tablet arrives

1 billion more timing?

Favourite quote: "does the 2.5 feel noticeably slower revving than the 2.0?"

Better install a 1.6L to get that sporty revving feeling again.

I know this is delayed, but just wanted to say the reason the AFR is so rich on the stock tune IS to cool the cats. The evaporative cooling of the extra fuel lowers EGTs overall, a 1 point drop is enough for almost 100C drop in EGT.

It bugs me to no end at work coming from race cars, we run the tundra's engine at around 11:1 under power performance just to keep the cats cool.

Honestly you need to be careful, pulling AFR back to 14:1 on a newer car can cause cat over temp pretty easy. If you kept the catalyst temp estimation and compensation maps active through you might be OK, but it would start richening up your tune quickly.

I can't imagine trying to tune a car with such slow response time on the WB.

"You never want to see AFR of 11."

*gets on it*
