22, all points taken off via lawyers and driving school, 1 sided is $27 a month. I cant imagine having basic full coverage on a modified miata. They will only give you KBB which is around 3k, you will start saving money if you pay for 1 sided and drive for a year without an accident.

I am a 73yr old Native American Inuit living just outside Fairbanks. My Miata is my winter beater. I have 26points on my license and 14 dui's. My vision is 20/600 but I only wear glasses for reading. I pay $150 a year for full coverage and a $2million umbrella policy.

Bringin it from the dead. I got some insurance papers in the mail the other day and was a bit pissed. My insurance was around $170 every 6 months for the first year and a half of ownership with 4 other cars on the policy (RX7, Bronco and Accord), but that was cheating and I had my dad listed as primary driver. We both have no wrecks or tickets. They sent me a paper and it said my new payment would be $565 for 6 months. From $170 to $565... wtf! Went and talked to the lady at the insurance place, who is a family freind, so it helps. Got it talked back down to $280/6 months with my dad still driving my car lol. Im supposed to be driving the Accord, the backup car. Even if I were under primary driver it would still be about fair for a 22 year old single male, $565 for 6 months. but why pay that when I can cheat and get out for half of that. $50/month FTW! The best part is when I leave and climb into the Miata with the local branch owner watching me, and speed away.

Im using Farmers Insurance, a smaller company I guess. Like I said, family freind handles our stuff, so Im sure she pulls strings any chance possible. It took her 45 minutes of swapping stuff around and tinkering to get the lowest rate of $280. If it had been anyone else I would have gotten stuck with the $565, which is still decent. I have a perfect record and 2 other cars on the plan. It may have also gone up because I took one of my RX7's off the plan. Less cars raises the cost for each other car I think.

Wow, i think i'm getting the shaft. I'm 20 but i have a perfect driving record and a credit score in the high 700's.

111/mo for liability on the miata.
30/mo for liability on a 98 Monte Carlo Z34
I also have renter's insurance through the same company so i'm getting a multi-line discount and a multi-car discount.

2 speeding tickets, 2 seatbelt violations that should of been speeding tickets, but the cop was being nice, 1 ticket for bad exhaust (first car's muffler fell off, oops). Basic on the Miata, was around $97 a month. Winter car, 95 cutlass is like $86 a month.

Edit: It may be 3 speeding tickets... I dont remember.

I called Sneed today. For 100/300, $1000 deductibles, $1k medpay, $13K agreed upon value policy... $303/yr. Max 6k miles/year.

If you guys contact Sneed, be sure to tell them (if you have a rollbar) that your have a bolt in bar and not a cage. If it's bolt in, they'll insure you. If it's weld in, they will not.

when I added my 90 to my policy I was really surprised at the cost, $444 a year with my wife as the primary driver.

$648 / Pilot - full coverage
$789 / TSX - full coverage
$444 / Miata - liability and comprehensive only

p.s. 30 / married / State Farm

Miata's seem to be very cheap to ensure, nobody wants to steal them, and most people that own them drive 1000 miles a year at 10 below the speed limit.

99 miata
90 miata

1 wreck, 5 tickets, just turned 25 (hopefully it goes down a little).

$404 per 6 months for liability on both.

92 miata with full coverage with agreed value of $12,000 and a 92 miata with liability. $498/6 months with no points on record, 25, and not married. I would have gone with sneed as they quoted me around $350/year, but getting it through my home insurance company saved me 15% on my home insurance so i came out ahead.

Ive been thinking about my insurance. I think I may need to go full coverage. I'd be really pissed to have an accident and lose my car, especially with all of the work I have done recently, and the turbo coming soon. What does $500/6 months sound like for a $500k bodily injury/property damage, $100k uninsured, $10k medical payments (low I know), $500 deductable for both comp and collision, and covering $3k worth ot "custom" parts. I've never had full coverage on anything I own. Again, Im 22 single male, no accidents or tickets. Single car on this policy.

Also, whats the deal with most full coverage plans and car parts. Dont they pretty much impound it when its totaled and not let you get stuff off the car? Id really like to have my still working parts.

EDIT:

WOW. The $500/6 month quote was from Progressive, I just got a quote of $360/6 months from Geico. Surely the difference between companies isnt that high (could it be?). Thats crazy. Not much more than what I pay now. Though the Geico plan isnt with the custom parts coverage, but that probably only adds ~$50-75 for $3k coverage. So still around $400 all said and done.

Im gonna push to question one more time because I plan to purchase a new 6 month plan this weekend. If you total your car, do you get a chance to get any parts back? Or would you have to buy it back for salvage? In which case, what do you think the salvage value for a totaled Miata would be (say a fully smashed front end). Half of the blue book? a third? Reason being is I dont want to have an accident and be told sorry, its a goner and you lose all of your parts. I probably have more in aftermarket than I paid for the car (I know I do actually). I know this isnt the same for any 2 companies, but in general. Ive always only had liability from the same company since I was 16, never had an accident, so Im clueless on insurance.
