**** you too....anywho, if you feel the need to stray towards the 240-250 rwhp mark, it is cheaper to do a turbo upgrade from boost planet than swap out the exiting turbo.

I also find irony in this sweeping generalization because when I made similar assertions in a political thread you insisted I was the scum of the earth for holding the opinion I did.

they also seem to get butt-hurt the worst when steam-rolled by another miata.

Its so ******* irritating how na folks think they are gods in the miata world. That nb's and msm's are ****...... That somehow smaller displacement and older car is completely superior to bigger displacement newer car. You guys have way more parts available, are a bit lighter, etc etc...thats great and an advantage for you....but c'mon.
cant we all just get along? ****!!!

I really would rather have an NB, but can't afford one.

Then again they are butt ugly, obd2, heavy, yada yada j/k

Seriously though, y8s car just looks plain badass, like it cost 6 times its original MSRP.

My car will never look that good, and probably never be that fast without a similar setup (why swap in a complete drivetrain from a later model?).

On topic. I loved the Mazda ads for the MSM when it first came out. A car company that wasn't afraid to show us all exactly what we'd be doing when we first broke it in: burning some friggin' rubber. Those kind of things leave a lasting impression, and I look forward to OP's build.

Yep, that's right, I said build.

heavy and obd2 are a big pain in the ***...big enough to not want one. I also don't like the nb door-cards because I'm a man and can't fit my leg between the door and steering wheel because I'm so jacked and pumped.

Basically, they look better, that's about it. However, when you're at the track its easy to spot the NBs so you know which guys sit down to make #1. Now, NAs with 99 motors and 6-speeds, they usually make #1 on people, because we're into watersports and not afraid of a little golden nectar straight from the bottle, amirite?

lmfao

I have honestly thought this out thoroughly. I plan on slapping this turbo onto my car.

When I graduate I am going to do a complete DIY build on a 1.8L motor. This motor will come from my wife's Miata (an NB) with an LS1 swap with an automatic(what she wants, don't ask).

That's about the only use I have for an NB honestly.

The MSMs look good on paper next to other stock cars, until you realize you can do it better yourself.

EDIT: Wife doesn't currently own NB, but will.

Quick story about MSMs vs NAs and the rivalry between the two.

I was at Thunderhill for a track event/passing school last year. Im in the Intermediate group because its only my 5th track event. This msm owner, in the "advance" group decided he wanted to pass me on the only straight he could out run me on. ( due to the power, i was stock at the time) So i allow him to pass assuming he was faster than myself. 2 turns into the lap i catch up to him and am on his tail and have to slow down a bit. Turn 9, which is a long uphill blind left turn cresting over mid apex and slopes downhill to the right.

This msm owner didnt brake.. I thought to myself that maybe he knows something that i dont and continued to hold my line. I braked, turned in got back on the throttle and headed directly towards the sideways msm. The look on his face when he came off track was the best.

Grumble.

When I drove an NA, non-car people either said to me, "What a piece of crap" or "It's so cute!" .... now in the MSM, non-car people say to me, "Is that a Porsche?"

Kidding aside, I think the NA v. NB debate was best summarized many years ago by this: "NA is a better Miata, NB is a better car, MSM is a better NB."

Jesus, you people get butthurt at the drop of a used condom. I said MOST. I've met a few exceptions, ironically most of whom have converted to FM2 or similar. Most Miata owners are pretty bad, but MSM owners are particularly heinous. I think I spent 5 minutes at the MSM forums and wanted to end it all.

It's really just a matter of preference. I personally hate NA's. I think they are butt *** ugly. But I don't see any reason to rag on people that like them, just because I don't. I never even considered buying a miata until I saw the MSM. And the whole lighter aurgument...the MSM weighs in at a whopping 2500 pounds, yes, heavier than an NA, but hardly heavy. Soft suspension? do stock NA's have soft suspensions? From what I can tell, damn near everyone with a miata of any generation upgrades the suspension. Look at the dyno sheets on BEGIs page, the MSMs with bolt ons makes quit a bit more power than the miatas retrofitted with a turbo in most cases (I didn't say all, just most) Bottom line, people have different preferences on miatas, I'm hard pressed to say any generation miata is a bad car, or inferior, just different and some are better suited for individual needs than others.

Considering that I have a passion for all miatas, I dont care which one im driving just so as long im driving one. Having owned, and in this order, an 02 NB, turbo'd 95 rpkg, 97 m edition, 97 NA almost turbo'd and then back to NA, my 04 MSM, and have been living vicariously off of my fathers prht NC, Ive seen the merits of all of them.

In all honesty, as far as NA's and NB's go, Ill always say that the NA is a better Miata and the NB is a better car. Ive felt that thats the fairest and IMO truest observation that I can make. Guess what, in time, ill be buying another NA but this time a 1.6. Why, because my NB is too purty in my eyes to track and destroy lol
