Do you use the AC when it rains? The drain hole for the evaporator could be gummed up and as you use the AC it over flows and comes out somewhere.

I experienced this with another car.

no. it's a outdoor-rain-water-coming-in leak bro. i think it's coming from the cowl area under the windshield.

but i need to take apart all the plastic covers and the wiper arm to investigate, and who really wants to do that?

I have white and gray caulk at my disposal. I'm sure that will suffice considering it will be covered and no one will see.

1: Remove one bolt holding the cowl in place. Lift edge slightly.
2: Shove nozzle of expanding foam can under edge.
3: Press button on can of expanding foam.
