A 99 top end is about to go into my car, and i have the autocockbullshitty hood..

 

the intake plenum sits too high so the throttle body pipe will hit the hood.

 

Both hoods (the original Autokensinzxnxonzaz copied) I posted above had dremel surgery to clear the VC. it's fun to cut fiberglass, it's like butter and makes a mess, very satisfying.


what;s said is I bought that extractor in Nov of '07 with the hopes of getting it molded to my hood....sigh. Now everyone is going to have it and I won't be the cool OG with it.

 

Just cut the hood and leave a raw gaping hole. Works for me

I am seriously about to pull the trigger on the Carbontrixmegastylin hood scoop thingie so I am interested in status as well. That CR extractor hood group buy is getting nowhere in a hurry. And, whether the Autokonexiondriftingbuttsex hood sucks or not, it is more than I want to spend.

I need one for an NA BTW. The NB is being relegated to street duty so no need.

 

I'd rather have an affordable fiberglass hard top. Everywhere i look they are more than 2k...

if its strict to bumpers/body kit/hood only then a wide bodykit that doesnt make the car look like poo would be great.

EDIT: You know of course that kind of hood is really not possible on a front-engine car.

 

I am definitely interested in this hood as well! I have been looking into extractor hoods for a little while now.

 

yup, sadly the vents go way too low otherwise it would look sexy as hell :(

this is something that would work though assuming the vents are moved off to the outsides of the hood like above the headlights all the way back. Also according to that image thats where the lowest pressure is so even better.





now i wonder where is the highest pressure underneath the hood in the engine compartment.

"A small hose is connected to the gauge and then the end of the hose is positioned at 90 degrees to the air flow being measured. I therefore attached one end of the hose to the gauge and the other to a pole. We then drove down the highway at 60 MPH and mapped the pressure across the hood (hood was on a 94 Miata).

We then mounted the hose end in front of the radiator, and then behind the radiator. Again all measurements were taken at 60 MPH. The front of the radiator was measured at 1.25 and the rear of the radiator was measured at .65.

Therefore the pressure difference was .6

You can see here that there is still a positive pressure behind the radiator. In an ideal world there would be negative pressure behind the radiator. This would then draw air through the radiator. We thought that we could improve the air flow through the radiator by utilizing the low pressure zone as mapped on the hood. "

in other words those holes did a big difference in pressure drop behind the radiator.

Those holes also reduced all that air what would have to otherwise go underneath the car.

 

Make this, in FRP, for $200ish, without headlight lids, and I will buy one tomorrow.

Mold it without headlights, but leave the little lines in. If someone wants headlights, they buy a scoop and stick it on their stock hood. If they want it molded in, they cut the headlight lids out and use it. If they want to **** tens, they run it with molded-in headlight lids and ditch their 6lb-per-side headlight buckets/motors.

 

Do that in FRP for 200ish for NB and I will buy it tomorrow as well....

 

nobody cares about your crappy NB, I suggest you wreck it, take all your parts and your engine, and buy a 90 shell. Shave 200lbs and join the gentleman's club.
