So el cunto came outta the shop this afternoon. I decided to take the risk and drive it 100 miles back to Tallahassee.
No hiccups along the way, but thats the weird part about this problem. It comes and goes randomly and varies in severity. Yesterdays inability to drive was the worst i've seen.
I was thinking about when it happened it it started with a wonky tach. While cruising at 75mph at around 4k rpms the tach began to flop around between 7 and 8k despite cruise and engine tone staying constant. After about 30 sec of this, the "stuttering" started. I'm thinking if I can figure out whats causing the tach to **** up, I can find out how it is affecting the fueling/ignition misfire ****.

I had this EXACT same problem with mine a couple years ago. Scott will remember me calling him like 20 times in one day trying to figure it out on my drive to school, also about 300-400miles.
Turns out that my coils were bad. When the car was cold it would start right up, but then once it was fully warm it had NO power at all and would almost cut out. my MPG would drop significantly and it would not restart whatsoever until I let it cool down. The only thing that fixed it was replacing the coils. Luckily the COP mod had recently been posted by Lazzer and I found a set for cheap with connectors. I put them in and it 100% complete solved the problem.

Might be a hint.
Thanks man.

Well some updates...
My lady friend came to visit this weekend and she was heading home this morning. Her ride decided to do the most epic of car maneuvers and throw a rod. No joke. 4 inch hole in block. I'm thinking she never checked her oil level before embarking on a 400 mile trip.

In a moment of desperation I had to take the Miata out to pick her up. It appears that I can temporarily stop the problem if I turn off the car and turn it back on. I had to do it a few times on my 15 mile journey to pick them up. ******* weird day. I'm clueless.

Friend just bought a 1999 Civic. Spent $9800.00 on it, then I laughed at him for spending 10,000$ on a 9 year old HONDA... Its spent more time in the service department than his driveway. An additional 2200 later in labor and parts...
I spent $2600 on a 2000 Protege ES. Since I bought it in March 2008 I've put 46,000 miles on it doing nothing but changing headlight bulbs, washer fluid, oil and filter. It needs the rear wheel bearing replaced now, which I'll be doing in about 10 minutes.
Oh, but I only get on average 28mpg highway, he gets 32.

I just bought a 89 Honda CRX HF. Has a brand new paint job, no rust, 150k original miles, almost mint condition for $2000. I'm hoping to get around 55mpg during my 50mi daily commute to and from DC. Should save me around $200-400 a month in gas (depending on the price at the time) over my Scion TC. In the future I plan to buy a remanufactured longblock for around $700 to make it like new.

Went to Advanced auto to check out a new coil pack. Quoted me 349$ to get it tomorrow.
I decided against it and took out my iron cahones. I drove 400 miles with it only acting up 3-4 times. When it did act up, I just turned off the car(while moving) and restarted it. Worked all the way from Tallahassee to West Palm Beach.
I had an appointment with my shop of choice down here in WPB and decided to take the risk.
