Uhh.... Joe.

It's extremely easy to put an aftermarket 1din stereo in an S2000. Because the factory S2000 radio is a standard 1DIN.

Using stupid sized radio stuff was around long before the S2000, and wasn't a "thing" on the S2000, anyways.

I agree with Joe on the foolish fascination with keyless anything and integrated everything. If your radio controls are tied in to vehicle system controls, how do you eliminate one without the other (on a track car, for instance).

sidebar: Does anyone much really listen to the two broadcast radio stations that still exist (clearchannel and the other one)? Let's face it, the "country" station, the "indie rock" station, and the "thug" station are all in the same building and even on the same hallway in [your city].

ahem, the two rock stations I listen to are both clear channel and in different buildings. One seems to play more Billy Squire than the other one.

I didn't even know people still listened to the radio honestly. I've used bluetooth for a while now, and an audio cable aux in before that. And then that funky tape deck to audio cable thing before that. Before that I didn't have much of a choice since it was before I could drive.

Thats way too much work. Because you have to remember to bring your media device in and out to avoid hot/cold/theft and then you also have to like go out of your way to find new music. And thats a pita. The radio just does all of that for you and sometimes even includes news, sports, and traffic reports.

Yep. My daughter is using her iPhone exclusively in her new ride.

That "afterthought" LCD screen is annoying to me too. I don't know that they have a choice though. Aren't rear cameras soon to be mandatory? I'm not sure where else you could put it in that tight dash. Hopefully, they'll have some kind on laptimer app for that thing.

Just because it has bluetooth doesn't mean the UI isn't fucked.

Case in point, my Fiesta. If it takes more than 3-5 seconds to connect to the BT, the stereo switches to aux input. To switch it back to BT, you either have to go through 4 levels of menu or use the godawful voice rec (**** you microsoft).

I still use the radio exclusively in my cars because neither of them have bluetooth or aux capabilities and it doesn't bother me at all. Yeah, every station has their loop of songs that they just play over and over but I am not that picky when I just want music to make the ride less dull. At work I use spotify so I can vary what I am listening to a lot more and hear something other than top of the charts music.

I am also hoping that people figure out how to add relevant apps to the miata interface for things like engine diagnostics, lap times, etc. While the screen could stand to be more integrated into the dash it is sitting very nicely in your line of site for the track. If the glare isn't too bad or you have a hard top on then it could potentially be very useful.

As long as I keep bluetooth on, it automatically connects when I enter the car. I literally have to do nothing. I sit down, turn on the car, and my music plays.

I enjoy finding new music so I guess that is a personal preference, did not consider that so that is definitely a plus for radio I guess (assuming you like to listen to the same 10 songs over and over).

Oh I hate how music sounds over blue douche, and that whole I keep it turned off one my phone all the time to save battery. I'd have to charge at work and/or in the car if I used it like you.

I've never noticed a difference in sound but then again I haven't listened to the radio in forever. I usually plug my phone in while I drive since I use it as a GPS too and to monitor Waze. I definitely see a benefit to radio for a lot of people, I was mainly just joking around.

My Miata was smoking a bit after the last oil change - valve seals are shot. Wife even commented on it. So, I used the opportunity to plant the seed that I may need a new engine soon. Oh, woe is me, this car is getting so expensive to maintain type of thing.

I plan on having an ND as soon as I find a used one without issues.

I use Blew Douche in my Cherokee ever minute i spend in it. Sounds better than radio, and because my phone doesn't suck, my 40 minute commute might drain 2-3%.

Best money I've ever spent. Etymotic ER4s with custom tips. Blocks out 90% of any noise in the car and when using a die grinder or angle grinder no hearing loss is possible.
