Rob, can you A add an option to the poll that says "Yours isn't gay, but all the others are" (I'm such a **** stirrer) and B log into your chat client once in a while :-p

here is an interesting article on scoops and such and how to actually measure the effectiveness. I am not really sure that the 'before it didn't over heat, and now with the scoop, it still does not' really qualifies as empirical...

^article has been posted here before - read it and that combined with all the other reading pushed me towards an extractor.
The results are all that matters to me - it's up to everybody else to decide whether or not they want to try it. But you'd be hard pressed to find anything showing that hood extractors don't extract the heat in similar applications.

I'm thinking about cutting a rectangle in my hood like this, then doing a scooper kind of thing half way down, behind the radiator. I will also probably have to put a little foil in front.

when i finally get around to it, ill be cutting the hole and sticking it up from underneath, then fiber glassing it in place. I'll use some body filler to fill in the gaps between the two on the outside, then just fill them in with a permanent marker, exactly like how I did my NACA duct.
