I'd love to check out this build in person since you're local.

I look forward to more pics though.
Send me an email at JustinTymeService@yahoo.com reminding me so I wont forget. All that info is on my desk top and I just moved and havent set it up yet. Once it is up and running again I will send you all the info I have. Its pretty straight forward.

I feel you about the 5 speed. A Getrag 6 speed would be much better and handle much more power.

That dyno chart someone else posted though, unless you're building a dedicated drag car... would be a pretty useless motor.
This is great reasoning for doing this build as well. I can pretty much have Forced Performance build a turbo to my desired output and get a nice, progressive power band that really matches the car well. Then, using either DSM/ECU Link or a stand alone I will be able to tune it at various points of the RPM spectrum to get a much more precise and desired output. I would love to go with a motec and even be able to control my boost using a combination of speed sensors to measure tire spin and vehicle speed and rpm's to even ore precisely tune the car so I wont just burn up tires and appear like a drift car gone wild. I know a big challenge of having so much power in such a light car will managing that power and putting it to the ground. I think I can do a much better job of that with a 4G power plant than a LS power plant. I mean, if I just wanted to through a quick Miata together I know where i could pick up a complete LS set up with a 6 spd and ecu and all for real cheap. But I want to this with a 4G for more reasons than I have even thought about mentioning on here so far. You guys are figuring out some of them though, thats for sure. I have been working on this idea in my head and on paper for over a year at least and I think its time to get started and make it happen.

I hope to get some work done on Sat. IF I get distracted with the Talon or my brothers bike I will at least snap some more pics of where the car is at now and some of the stuff I have collected for the build.

Plus 1 million for DSMLink. Single best thing I ever did with my money in regard to my Laser. The knowledge base of their forum alone is worth a lot.

A FP3052 2L would be simply insane in this car!

No progress on the car. I have gathered up some parts but they currently just sit on the shelf. My business has been very busy lately. I am working 7 days a week and long hours. I am not complaining though. It means I am putting money in the bank so when I do have free time I have money to work with.

I have made a few changes to my plans though. I am forgetting about the T56 and going with a T5 instead. Price being a major reason. I actually realize, I truly have no need for 6th gear and I can build the T5 to my desired specs for a fraction of what the T56 would cost me.

I am also doing away with DSM link and going to convert over to Speed Density using Jackal. This will end up being a much better set-up.

Thats about it really. Once I get rolling on this there will be plenty of coverage of how I progress, I assure you.

Those Galant VR-4's talk to me sometime. How do AWD DSM's handle?

They handle fairly well. They are heavy cars, considering the weight of the drive train and the frame to support it all, but you do have AWD so grip is not a problem. You will fall in love with the fact that you dont have to change your driving style during rain and such much. Tons of fun off road as well. But as a road course car or street car they do well considering. You will find under steer if you come in too hot due to weight and over steer if you punch it too hard (considering you have the power) in the middle of the corner sometimes. I like a little bit of over steer personally. The EVOs with all there fancy diff controls have mastered all of this by letting the computer manage it for you.
