You guys may call me a ***...but Ive got 30k HID's. which come to be...yes...PINK. Thing about it, today I did a test (in broad daylight) and stuck my lows in my highs and my highs in my lows. the halogen gave off so much more light and color than my projector.

it may put more light out with you standing there. Why it blinds people.

Lean down and then look into the projector.

I HAVE LEANED ALL THE WAY DOWN AND PUT MY HIDS IN MY EYES!! Ive stood close, far, high, low. The halogen housings just seem all around better. and its not like the miata is so high off the ground (not to mention mine is lowered). people in huge trucks, suv's, and even normal sedans blind the **** out of me everywhere every time. halogens and HID's alike. SO **** ALL THEM.
all that aside. lets say you want to help and not be a dick...lets talk the bumper swap for the NB2 to NB1 conversion. Im getting a body kit in a week. The bumper will need to be modded anyway. what do you think?

30ks huh?

And you're complaining about light output...

Halogens only look better to you because they scatter light all over the place.

Headlight patterns are made to meet regulations put in place so the guy coming in the other direction doesn't end up in the ditch.

1. Buy some real HIDs, like some 4300s or 5000s that put out buttloads of real, white light.
2. Put them in the projector housing
3. ???
4. Profit

Seriously, real bulbs in a projector are better for everyone: you, the guy coming towards you, the guy in front of you, and the cop that doesn't want to put down his donut to write you a ticket for your faggy pink people blinders.

Try it, win.

I vote ban...this dipshit ricer is giving us a bad name.

I'd be more than happy to educate someone, like Randall, if they were willing to listen....but Jesus **** H Christian and a Half...bragging about having "30k", demanding that reflector housings are better for light out put, and thinking that colored headlights are cool because other people think they're cool.....what the **** is wrong with kids these days? Do some ******* research man. LIGHT COLOR HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ACTUAL BRIGHTNESS (lumens to the rest of us smart people).

Since you like looking into colored lighs, next time try looking into a green laser light, the effects are amazing..it's like seeing the world in a pantone color palette.

That "it gave off so much more light" is called scatter... and it reduced the amount of light on the road and pisses off other drivers like me who will return the favor of being ******* annoying and ride behind you with high beams on.

Let's brake this down to a kindergarden level for you....

Projectors with HID = Proper use of HIDs and good on-road lighting

Shitty HID + reflector housings = massive light scatter and annoyance to other drivers = big ******* ricers

I know you selfish ***** only think that colored lights are cool and you "think" you can see better at night, but all you're doing is straining your eyes and pissing everyone else off....and it's illegal.

Nice demonstration, perfect in fact, you can really see the light scatter that you are referring to with the pictures, but I think this guy is the proverbial horse to water type.

I'm sorry, your attitude and ignorance precludes me from offering any assistance. I hope I am never the person driving the other way from you. I will not end up in the ditch, I'll be in your front end.

Since we're injecting actual info about HID's into this thread now:

Standard OEM halogen 55W 9006(HB4) = 1100lm (lumens)

4300k D2S Philips = 3200lm (lumens)
4300k D2R Philips = 2800lm (lumens)
4300k D2S Philips = 2400lm (lumens) actually 5800k
4300k D2R Philips = 2000lm (lumens) actually 5800k
4800k D4S/R (brand) = 3800 (lumens) -- brightest in the market
5800k D4S/R (brand) = 3300 (lumens)
7000k D2S other = 1790lm (lumens) *(other bulb brand)
7000k D2R other = 1390lm (lumens) *(other bulb brand)
8000k D2S other = 1180lm (lumens) *(other bulb brand)
8000k D2R other = 780lm (lumens) *(other bulb brand)

Wow, I'm surprised how well the projectors cut-off HIDs. Stock NB2 housings or a different car?

And OP, you're an idiot and want to blind everyone

Those pictures seal the deal, I shall need to upgrade my '02 to HIDs soon.

I can get pics of the HID/cutoff from my car if you want...none of the pics I posted are miata-specific.

Dude I love this ****, its sounds like typical ricer bitch talk... I would actually like to see this guys car...
I can see it right now, the car scene loaded with 16-19 year olds with autozone air filters and ebay spoilers...

We'll never be able to convince the OP (perhaps we can instead convince him of the merits of adding both an intake Turbinator and some cool rare earth magnets to his fuel lines?). To continue with Doppelgänger's approach of adding value to this thread with actual data, here is another picture showing light scatter when adding HID lights to a reflector-style housing, as well as actual test results of the same from a fur-real testin' place.

Carry on.
