Default Need injector swap instructions (or, come make fun of mgeoffriau's noobness)

So, I've managed to get a few things done on the car (alternator swap, roll bar wrap, R-pkg front lip)...and I got my IAT sensor in the mail the other day, which means (I think) that I have all the parts for my turbo build. Well, other than sending the downpipe back to BEGi for them to weld a 1.6 exhaust flange on it.

Anyway, the next few things on my list to accomplish are the 1.8 rear end (easy peasy), the ACT clutch (scares me), and the LC-1/MS2 install. But, I need to swap my injectors when I do the MS2 install.

Now, from what I can tell, swapping injectors is fairly easy...but I just can't find any info on it. Maybe most people who are doing it already know how, but I'm a noob and don't want to do something dumb, like spraying pressurized fuel all over myself.

I've searched m.net and mt.net to no avail. Help? Or if you don't want to help, feel free to hurl some mockery my way (but make it funny).

For the Injectors this is what you need to do.

1. Open up the rear gas cap to let off pressure.
2. Unbolt the 3 bolts holding the fuel rail down.
3. Make sure to catch the spacers behind the fuel rail and bolts as they tend to like to fall into tiny places where you can not reach them.
4. Pull off old injectors.
5. Put some oil around the o-rings on the new injectors and put in the fuel rail.
6. Line them all up with the Injector holes on the head and then bolt down the rail.

Funny, I usually take off the front gas cap, much safer IMO.

Awesome, thanks...one of the m.net posts mentioned something about removing the fuel pump fuse, then cranking the car till it's starved of fuel...unnecessary/excessive?

Bond, if you hadn't left Larry Fitzgerald in your lineup I would haven't a chance in this week's FF matchup. Thanks.

I got all kinds of messed up in FF this week.

Oh...and you're a newb.

I wrap a towel around the "in" side hose and clamp it just so fuel doesn't keep leaking. Had it siphon itself once during a motor swap while we were inside eating lunch. Came out and driveway was covered in fuel.

Not necessary, but once you know where the relay is, it's easy to pull, and the process prevents gasoline from spraying into your eyeballs, nose, ears, and down your gf's shirt when you pull the first fuel connector/injector/etc.

I let my car sit overnight and the pressure reduced significantly. I probably lost less than 20 mLs of fuel when I popped off the injectors.

Do you guys really worry about the tiny amount of gas that comes out? I mean I just loosen the gas cap and then go in. I also tend not to smoke while I am changing injectors. As long as there are no open flames the gas will evaporate rather quickly.

You're welcome, fortunately for you, I was too busy banging supermodels on my yacht all weekend.

A bunch of n00bs. But he sucked the last two weeks with Kolb. Didn't expect much from him against a really good defense with that **** QB.

I wouldn't give a **** if it was a liter of gas that spilled all over everything.

I would care SIGNIFICANTLY if it was a microliter of gas that splashed into my eye.

Therefore, I pull my fuel pump relay, open my gas cap, and run the car until it stalls.
