Default New CF headlight lid intake

Hey guys

Here's a link to a Clubroadster thread. A guy that works with AAC (Advanced Automotive Concepts) has started making a new CF headlight lid intake and is now taking preorders for them. It was designed by Revlimiter (I don't know if he's a member here but he's well known around the other boards).

I don't have any affiliation with either of them and I'm not making anything off of it, I'm just getting the word out so we can get the ball rolling. More info in the thread, need 10 preorders at $99 each to have production start

Mods if this is a problem please let me know.

I'd get it if they made one for the passanger side as well.

meh, my buddy made one of those by cutting his stock lid and pop riveting a generic naca duct. It looked really good, better than those. I like the look of pop rivets though on fender flares and scoops etc.

As of now, no passenger side ones are being made. However, Steve stated that if there is enough interest then he will begin producing both sides.

Yeah I got a really bad vibe about those. AAC posted the gb/preorder for those on miata.net months ago for $60 or $70 and then disappeared without returning any PMs. Then they came back out of the blue months later and want $90.

People had a lot of problems with AAC's flush headlamp kit, and though the naca duct lid is a lot simpler, I'm not so sure that AAC is a stand up company.

Too bad, I really wanted the CF naca duct lid.

If you read the link, it states that AAC isn't involved in this project. The designer was a little annoyed at them over some issues I won't go into and he's doing this project entirely by himself.

For reference, the Moss version sells for twice this much plus shipping.

BTW I had the AAC headlight kit and had no problems... I had to sell it though due to money issues

yeah, except then in OCTOBER the lid was $59.95 and he only wanted a $10 deposit.

Now that it's March he the product is $90 and he wants full payment in advance.

Probably because he split and took on the project himself instead of going through the company. He's been nothing but helpful to all of us DFW guys...

oh well good, since the overhead went down, the price went up. and we're no longer purchasing from a company, but a single individual. sweet.

Braineack, how'd you get yours to look like that w/ no rivets and such? or did you just buy it like that?

Not that i'll be doing any of this to my '99 but if I was going to go this route, DIY using the $25-30 naca duct looks way the hell better.

Yep, I'm lazy...very nice, I really want to try and copy yours then...you said you had to cut it? the 3" would be the better choice for stock lights?

yeah, the "tail" extended out too far and hit the very edge of the light underneath. So I chopped off a good 1" off the top and made it shorter to fit.

It's pretty easy to do, just takes a bit of time to cut out and make sure it's good.

In fact, I have Brgracer's to do once i get a free chance. Because he is a lovely individual.
