I consider mine a race car that is driven on the street. I am running the SM linear spring rates (700FR/325RR).

Race car = race car, street car = street car. A street car that sees track time is a track car.

So what is a Porsche 996 Cup Car that is full race spec but driven as a daily driver? Race car, track car, or street car? Oh, it is used for some AutoX, but no track time.

ISC does indeed have some nice items. I am running their oil cooler. Don't forget it appears to be low because it's on a lowered race car. Might make a nice addition to someone's car that doesn't already have a splitter. I'm going to keep my GV front splitter for now. I already made a DIY undertray for it.

I thought I was the only one running those rates.

EDIT: besides actual SM cars, that is.

I am thinking about upping it to 350-400RR, kind of soft at 325.

Try to take some today. To explain it, it's about .080 ABS plastic, in the shape of a mushroom. The front edge of the abs fits inside the GV lip right at its base, screwed into the lip with a few short screws, then extends back to where the OEM pan bolts to the crossmember. The sides extend as far toward the tires as possible without rubbing. There is a noticeable improvement in front stability with it in place. I did a little test on the same highway with and without it. I will eventually duct air from each of the splitter holes to the rotors, for now they're just open. It's very easy to make, esp since the GV lip is there to support the front of the abs.

630FR/315RR 'corrected rates' don't seem too bad. I was considering 500-600FR/325-400RR (725-850FR/475-575RR spring rates), but am gonna start low and then work up till I find a setup I like. The right setup has alot to do with the size and setting of the swaybars, too.

Well, SCC did a good write up on the actual motion ratios on the suspension for the Miata. It's like 1:0.7, so running 700lbs is like running 490lbs on a Mac Strut car.

Everyone who has driven my car is amazed that it isn't that rough, plus anyone who runs SM will tell you they are undersprung for a racecar. If you talk to "pure racers" they use the sprung weight of the car as the initial spring settings, and then increase them as needed to get the handling characteristics they want.

Same here. I meant the 700s plenty stiff for the street.

Here are some pics of it painted from the website:

Not too bad painted. For a street car, I kinda like the Garage Vary better. Just an opinion though.

The one thing to keep in mind about the design is it MUST fit within the SCCA IT rules for spoiler specs. I qualified the 92 ITA Miata on the pole for the ARRC enduro with this spoiler AND it is a phenomenal piece. It may have slowed the straight line speed but more than made up for it with corner speed. The added traction to the front end on entry to high speed turns was absolutely astonishing. The car did exactly what it was told. Unfortunately the owner got run off in turn 1 during the race and the spoiler dug into the clay and basically ripped the entire bottom half of the nose off the car. That incident demoted us to a second place finish.

Bump because this seems relevant to my interests.

Has anyone besides m2cupcar installed this and liked it? I'm thinking about buying one.

On your ITA car, were you running any spoiler to keep the rear planted? This sounds like an awesome mod but I'm afraid of making the car oversteery at high speeds.

No rear spoiler - rules didn't permit it. Of course we're talking about 114rwhp too. I have run a wing on another Miata (NB) and it will do what you want- plant the rear. Sav posted up another spoiler thread here somewhere. We had no issues on the ITA car with oversteer and made no adjustments to the corner weights or alignment after install. Here's post incident:

Their site lists a bunch of braces and stuff. Which of those are necessary to actually install the front lip? Is it still an affair of simply bolting it on in 2 places on the side and letting it hang there?
