Default OMG there's oil everywhere.

So after fixing what i thought was the issue with a boost line running into the crankcase i've experienced the same problem. I was driving on the highway doing a normal pull when all of a sudden i felt a hesitation followed by smoke and the smell of oil instantly. I pulled over and immediately shut the car off and popped the hood. The dipstick was blown out and oil was EVERYWHERE and i really mean all over the entire engine bay. At this point i figured i was completely out of oil but the dipstick still read it had oil. I drove it home, parked it, and cleaned up a bit. Now it's been blowing blue smoke and burning oil but im thinking this has to be a PCV problem? Could it be something else im missing?

Sounds like it could possibly be a ring problem if not PCV related.

You blew the welds on the intake.. And it's not a PCV problem.

Over-pressurized crankcase due to PCV or something and blew turbo seal?

BTW-- Are you running an oil line restrictor to the turbo?

There is a restrictor for the turbo and I dont believe a seal is blown. Im going to try and replace the PCV first. If not its time for the 1.8 to go in.

Maybe try figuring out what happened before you put in a new motor?

Well if its either PCV valve or rings I figured I wouldnt have a choice if its not the PCV causing the problem.

Replaced the PCV valve. We'll see how this goes.

With an MSM specific valve from Finishline performance or some shop like there, there is no equivalent, btw.

I totally missed that post, my mistake. Ive stopped driving the car altogether and am going to do a compression test this weekend hopefully. I didnt know about getting a specific valve for turbo applications but would have had I seen it. Again my apologies and ive already had a few people tell me my rings are shot.

I'd bet $10 that you'll be looking for a new shortblock. Hesitation + by significant crankcase pressure = significant ring/piston damage
