Painting track car........what color?
but fwiw. If your car has rust. And you do a quick job, or sometimes even a good job. The rust will come back through. Always use some form of rust kill before you primer it.
These are not wet sanded jobs. But they shine well, unlike the usual orange pill paint jobs most maccos do. But I couldn't buy supplies for the price they are offering.
I wouldn't use any other macco. But these guys are cool.
But each to their own.
maroon...you know you've always wanted to do it.
Make it metallic for kicks, with white stripes if needed.
Other than that, I really wanted to paint my Triumph like this, and think it could translate well to a Miata:

Tagg your car... im doing it soon.
Or this if you have enough time on your hands...

Or yet another idea, pant it flat white, and just write on it. A friend of mine had Sharpies tied to his car and would be parked for a while and have taggs and other people sign it when he returned. It ended up looking bad ***.
Since you like yellow, I say yellow and lime green, kind of like Jun cars sport. Do some practice on some cardboard with different stripes and shapes, and make one that looks cool and try to transfer it to the miata. Dont go plain on something like a track car, go wild with it.
My old Motorola Cup car- a 787B reinterpretation. Orange diamond sprayed over a green car. Sprayed vinyl at the same time, then cut and laid along the junction of the two colors.
