Got tired of sanding the VC, took it to a local shop and used their sandblaster. WOW, so much freakin easier! So now mine is spotless.... I'm trying to decide whether I need to use primer or not.

Depends, what kind of paint are you wanting to use?

Wrinkle. Why does the paint matter. Paint is all about adhesion.... I'm just wondering since I'm at bare metal if I need the adhesion help of primer or not.

Yeah... that's just plain old missionary sex. Simple, clean, makes onlookers horny....

I can't find Duplicolor Wrinkle ANYWHERE... I bought Krylon but refuse to even waste my time using it after seeing the pics here. I want a very tight wrinkle and it seems duplicolor is the only way. I've got less than 30 days before the car has to at least idle and drive 2 miles to my house. Time to get crackin!

PS: I still haven't painted mine so obviously, no pics.

I sprayed mine, years and years ago.

Sandblasted the cover to get it to a good state (note: get all the crap out of the baffles on the back-side).... and then I used a zinc-cromate primer. Available at marine places... works for IO units that need to sit in the water all the time.

Then I put a high-temp paint. Unfortunately I don't think I've ever found the same can, which is a shame becuase it's a great colour.

Would post a pic, but it looks like crap, with the minor exhaust leak and just dirty in general on top. <G>

Thanks. I was quite fond of it too. It doesn't look so good anymore. Scratched up from being pulled several times and the intake is all ghetto chopped up.
