And this is why I will never be able to find a cheap, clean NA ever again.

Amazingly, I have found 2 in this area just searching yesterday. Not low mileage, but I found a decent '94 for $2200 and a nice-looking '92 BRG SE with matching hardtop in nice shape for $2500.

I want both. I will buy neither.

Don't fear. I had to search for those fine examples. Plenty of good, clean, low to high mileage cars out here in the desert.

Im in the same boat now, I'm looking for a nice rust free NA in New England for a decent price and there isn't much out there right now. A couple 90's I'm scoping out, but the best 94 i found i missed out on.

Shop outside of New England, they'll be rust free and $1000-$2000 cheaper.

I found my 90' with 140k for $800 in CO with practically zero rust on it besides light surface corrosion. They can be found just have to be patient/lucky.

There are still relatively affordable miata in New England if you're patient. For example, my fathers last 4 purchases (all bought within the last 1.5 years):

- 1996 Montego blue w/ tan leather. 60k miles. Fully optioned. 1 owner. Always garaged. Never saw snow or rain. A few minor dings which occurred in storage. $3800

- 1994 Merlot M-edition. 40k miles. 1 owner. Always garaged, no snow and some rain. No dings or paint damage. $5,500

- 1997 Classic red w/ tan leather. 28k miles. 2 owner (2nd owner didn't drive it). Always garaged, no snow or rain. Slight fade on rear panel which buffed out. $5,000

- 1994 classic red R-package. 37k miles. 1 owner. Stored in heated garage. No snow and 'caught in rain twice' according to the owner. The owner only drove the car on Sunday mornings during the summer/fall. Perfect in every way (the owner was severely OCD). Came with a perfect set of 15x7 Panasports with new Dunlops. Bought last week for $6000.

My father sold his 2 owner 1990 Mariner blue, always garaged/no winters w/ just north of 100k on it last month for $3k and change.

If you're willing to pay, he'd be willing to offload some inventory

Right but all those cars would be less outside new england.

My r-package rusty, $3500.

My dad's STO with 90k miles, baseball dent in the rear quarter, slight rocker bubble, undercarriage looks like the car just rolled off the line, looks like it got a complete suspension refresh of a dealer recently (shocks [showas lol], bump stops, and all bushings look/feel brand new), interior looked like 20k miles tops, $5700.

We probably could have gotten a car exactly like my dads but a little less nice interior for like 2-3k from the south.

Ya, but it will need a repaint and the interior will be faded. Depends on whether you're looking for a track car shell or not.

Consider a mediocre shell in NewE goes for $3,500-4,500, I'd rather spend another $1-1.5K and buy a car with less than 50k miles which is cosmetically perfect and won't need a repaint in 1-5 years ...but that's because I care about such things.

Zach, you guys got some great buys for super rare NA's. Nicely done. I don't believe you would have done a whole lot better going south when you consider the mileage and prices you paid.

Wasn't my experience when I was shopping for mine 2 years ago (unless NA prices have just tanked recently).

I ended up giving $2600 for a relatively clean '90 with 120k miles. Bone stock, no rust, open diff, faded paint, etc. Clean 94-97 Torsen cars were asking $5k+

Then again, Tulsa isn't really the south and isn't really the Southwest, so it could just be a regional thing in my case.

If anyone needs what looks like a clean 93. Here is one locally in Charleston SC. I can go take a look at it if anyone is interested. I can't justify another 1.6 miata right now or I would be all over it myself.

My 92 B&T has 333k on it and still running great. I would take a clean cheap rust free high mileage 93 over a low mileage expensive northern rust car.

EDIT: wow, he just deleted the ad, must have sold it. It was an immaculate 92 with 24k miles always garaged that had never even seen rain. Ad said $7800 obo.
