Default Spanked by an STi :jerkit:

Well, yesterday my plans to continue the process to more boost/power was solidified.
As of now, I've got the greddy kit still using the vortech, stock downpipe (I know, I know), custom intercooler, mbc and greddy knock off bov. Best part of the setup is the MSPNP - which I've been tweaking this past month in preparation for some real mods for some actual power, which at least has allowed me to dial in aggressive timing with my intercooler. 6ish psi right now, 5 psi at redline.

So I'm creating a 15 min log to run through VE analyzer with my friend riding shotgun, and I'm just cruising along, flooring it here, half throttle there to use as many cells as I can, and the one lane road we're on opens up to two lanes - there are a few cars around me, mostly vans and such. So the right lane is completely open, I haven't gotten a good run up to redline yet for the analyzer so I put it into 4th (cruising at 55) and just put the pedal on the floor. Car pulls well and smooth since I just finished tweaking accel enrich last week, at about 5.5k I'm getting ready to let off and get into the correct lane (need to go left). I look in my rearview for a cop check and all I see is the grill of an STi, almost to my bumper and closing! I switch lanes, still on the gas, and the thing rockets past me an then merges into the left ahead of me.

I don't know where he came from - he had to have been at least a few cars back, so in the time I covered 2k rpms in 4th he closed the ~ 50 ft distance from him to me, and passed me. Good grief.

Awaiting my 460cc injectors, then I'll get a real downpipe, delete the AFM, and crank it to 10 psi and hit up the dyno. Maybe then I'll at least be able to not be put to shame. This was an 06-07ish model.

Although... I remember pre-turbo life... anywhere but the autocross there was no point flooring the car - every mini van on the road was faster than the 1.6... so I guess I'm moving up...

Yea I think greddy at 5psi is not that great yet. Iv beaten all motor cars but not by far. I also need more upgrades! (exhaust mostly)

I've got to get on that train. Very nice. And with a stock exhaust? Man you've got some room to grow too

I have beaten stock srt4's when I was running only 5psi. But there is a world of difference between a stock Greddy setup at 5psi and my intercooled full 2.5in exhaust setup.

Wes65,
You live in BFE. Move somewhere where most of the STIs and EVOs on the street are mid 12 or better cars.

I can believe some of you beating stock stis and evos and such, but if an sti has a simple turboback exhaust and retune, it'll take atleast 220whp to keep up if both drivers can drive their cars.

hehe...

My kills from the last week are - Lotus Elise (from a dig), G35 with bolt ons, 4-dr teg with B18C5, 4-dr EG with H22, Supercharged Z3 2.8(?), and some Mustang. I did race my friends GTO (read- over 400 rwhp) and from 40-90 he was only about 1-1.5 cars ahead. NOt bad for my little 250rwhp.

Haven't really gotten to play with any STi/WRX/Evo cars at all really...

your car doesn't look like a shopping cart, therefore you won in the end.

Usually 270whp on a dyno that reads a stock sti at 210-220whp.

I only know this from experience. Doing a HP/weight calculation the whp necessary for the miata seems to be a bit lower, but I have personally done this multiple times at lots of varying speeds, both on a race track and on the street.

The only WRX I've ever lost to was a 312whp car (100whp more than stock). Built STI block, FMIC, 20g. I was at 15psi. Stage 2 cars can keep up with me, stock cars are lunchmeat.

Really how much did you lose to the 312 whp car by?

My pals 2.0 wrx just dyno'd 314whp with an 18g this last weekend, and that thing is ******* fast. Id love to be able to keep up, but i doubt it for a while. I was thinking 250whp might put me close.

The launch in the vid was shitty and it launches much better than that now, was his first time and he slipped the clutch too hard. He hates me for including that in the video, but **** if im going to take it out now.

The car at the very end is the guy who tuned his car, Cameron. 450whp

wow 314 on the 2.0L. Definitely impressive to see 20psi on a stock engine. Is that getting to the limits of stock components (driveline, engine)? What kind of dough does it take to get a wrx to that point?

Alot of money, haha. He has every bolt on imaginable(still top mount IC, just a larger one), a built 5 thousand dollar transmission, and a new 18g setup. The dyno reads 1-2psi high, its really holding 18-19 psi to redline. Stock internals, the tuner said he could squeeze another 15 out of it, but this was a "safe" tune. Also this car was dynod at 5500 ft elevation.

That car is FAST, and a ******* demon off the line.. Spins all four on a good launch, the launch control is building just over 8psi, im sure its good for low 12's now. ON his stock turbo w/ larger comp wheel he was running 13.2's.

Mainly its just clean
