$129 Automatic Blutooth ODBII scanner with built-in GPS modul and free 3G data cservice. No monthly fees plus it works as a code reader, engine monitoring, MPG, trip logging and many other things. Would have been easy to find those ******** with one of these.

This is exactly how you handle it. I have done this with clearly drunk drivers that are swerving all over the road and just waiting to kill someone. Sit on the phone with the cops while you relay location and direction to the dispatcher. Give them the license plate and wait for the blue lights. Its pretty simple. Pretty much anywhere you needed to be would be okay with your excuse if it was reporting and following a stolen vehicle.

The premium was unbelievable low, coming from California. It was like 800 a year to insure my miata @15,000. Maybe it was 10,000. I don't remember. They just said " Bring every receipt for every part you want to include".

I was with AAA for 15 years. I will never give those ***** one more penny as long as I live.

Again, not the way to handle it. People in possession of the vehicle may have legitimately bought it from whoever stole it and may think you are robbing them or jacking them or road raging. You might end up hurt/dead or with a felony assault charge. Call police. Follow discreetly like an adult.

Yeah, your right. I will adult

I've always wondered how the purchasing of a stolen vehicle would work, i mean they guy would have no title to give them and if they went to register it would be flagged right?? I would walk away if there is no title on hand..but i guess some people are just that dumb. What happens when the car is recovered? Are the purchasers just screwed out of the money they payed?

I appreciate you trying to help, but I wouldn't bother. A co-worker and I drove around for a few hours searching in the most ghetto neiborhoods in Auburn and couldn't find anything.

Has the license plate changed in any of the pictures you did see?

In the picture above it seems like my plates because I usually kept the front one in the window. But as of right now I'm not entirely sure my plates are on there.

Some states don't issue titles on cars after a certain age. Rhode Island is one of them. I had to fight VA DMV and after a year, they conceded and issued a title since there wasn't one to surrender when I moved back after school.

I bought a rollbar from a kid with a illegitimate Miata. His dash wasn't well secured and the VIN tag on the dash didn't match the body. The body had been rattle-canned bright green. The kid was a dufus and had no idea it was probably hot and really didn't know what to do about the info when I told him he paid $400 for a dashpad but didn't own the car beneath it.

One way is to call the police and report a stolen car with perps still in the car. You have to state that you have a gun and are ready to shoot the perps. The police will get there ASAP.

I know many people who have had a car stolen and found it themselves and called the police only to sit for hours in front of their car with no police. Saying you have a gun and are going to use it, makes them act NOW!

No, no! It's ok for him to do that. Really. Tell him you overreacted and it is a good idea to tell the cops that.

When they arrive, you say... I said, if I had a gun, I would shoot them. I know at least one person who got immediate police action when they said that, and did not get in trouble either.

Thanks for all the negative cats too.

I post dyno charts about my testing of VICS, VTCS and Flat-top manifolds... No cats. Post a helpful comment about past experience with the original subject and I get negative cats. Oh well. Can only please some of the people some of the time. All of the people, none of the time.

Advice was given with good intention, but saying to police, on record, that you have a weapon and may use it against someone in a situation where your life may not be in danger is borderline questionable and not well thought out. This tactics works well in anecdotes, but in real life it may get one in very serious trouble. From cop's perspective - it is not a major crime requiring someone to blast down the road with sirens screaming and helicopters in the air. It's just a theft - you either get insurance money from your insurer or you don't... because you know, theft coverage is optional and you assume the risk when you don't buy it.

As much as it sucks to hear this, it's just a theft and is potentially not worth a forceful immediate response. Unless of course you can convince everyone that police needs more money so that they can respond to these calls in the shortest amount of time possible.

Regardless - i hope the thieves get caught and handed what they deserve.
