Cherokee can tow no problem. it has 5,000LB tow rating. but not an Audi A4.
I tow with an 06 Pathfinder (6k tow rating). 99% of the time, I have the lightest tow vehicle at track.

Older Suv's and a light trailer with trailer brakes is the way to go. I tow with a very similar light 12' trailer just like the one William linked to. Suv's are nice to sleep in at the track.

Anything with a tow rating will do the job. Pathfinders, Cherokees, Tahoe, Sequoia, etc. Doesn't need to be a truck, just needs to not be an economy car.

Thanks for all the input. I'll definitely keep all this in mind when it's time to pick something up.

That trailer converted to a small tandem axle would be PERFECT for a light SUV.

An Audi has a tow rating -- 2000 pounds. Jetski or a small sailboat, no problem; Miata on a trailer, not a good idea. Minivans are generally 3500, which is doable, but marginal.

There are lots of Suburbans and Expeditions on the used market that folks bought in the late 90s SUV craze and have seen very light use to shopping malls and back. Now that gas is expensive the bottom has dropped out of the values of these, and they make good tow vehicles.

Man, I want that trailer...bad. That would be perfect on my GF's Cherokee, and I could make a vacation out of it. Trailers like that are very difficult to find around here.
