My build/progress thread
I have a 2 week vacation from school, and my car has been down for 8 months. Time to get **** done and get this thing on the road again.
I did the rough cut for the exhaust and got it in place. Only the muffler is on, so it doesn't sit strait. It will when the rest of the mounts are on. Brainstorm 2.5". I would have finished it, but I forgot to buy gaskets and bolts...which are pretty important.
I also finished up the intercooler and pipes. I'm going to try and get a godspeed rad. I still have to trim up the undertray and build some shrouds. The air filter is temp, I need to figure out what I'm going to do with it.
I know, my DP is rusty as hell from sitting. My bowser heat shield covers it for now, I'll fix it next year.
In person this intercooler doesn't look so small. Something about the pictures make it look tiny, it actually looks good to me. I also love how high it sits, hopefully I'll never hit anything ever again.
Tommorow I'm going to finish up the exhaust and trim up the undertray. I'm going to work with MS a bit and try and get it running. My idle valve is killing the engine, need to sort it out. Monday I'm going to pull out my Koni sports so I can put on my FM springs and FCM mounts and swap in my 99 front sway bar. I will have more pics later.

The Koni's are out. I'm going to swap them over tommorow. A big thanks to Shaikh at FCM. Most helpful person I have ever bought parts from.
Tommorow I will have pictures of it on the ground.

Yeah, just the stock one with a cutout. I went with duals just because I think every car looks better with them, I like symmetry. In the future I want to upgrade to 3" duals, overkill.

The suspension is in and looks GOOD. I just need to finish up a few things and I'll get pictures. Thanks for all the compliments. This car has been a bitch, but it's finally coming together and looking how I planned.

Thanks, but wait until you see it with the new suspension. Yeah, the tires do stick out alot. The front does too.
It is an ebay 18x12x3 with 2.5" openings. Buy it from cxracing on ebay, really good seller. It is taller than it is wide, but it leaves some radiator exposed which i like.

Pictures!
Here it is on stock springs. Looks stupid high.
Here it is with its new setup. When I stand next to it my belt is higher than the side mirror.
Best I could get of the rear for now. (Family unexpectedly stopped by and parked behind me...I really wanted to show off the rear shot!)
I'll try for better pictures later. These ones don't do it justice.

I got around to taking apart my RX7 rear end, and it is indeed a clutch type. I will be swapping this into a 99 open rear to keep my current ratio.
A couple questions though. I just read on rx7club to not use LSD fluid. The fill tag said to use LSD only. Which is it? The carrier bearings are still in good shape, is it worth changing them?
My mess trying to get it a little cleaner. I didn't want gear oil all over my bench.
All cleaned up and taken apart to inspect.
My clutch plates. Do these still look good? It had a pretty good lock before I took it apart so I'm just putting it back in for now.
All cleaned up.
Ready for its date with the parts washer at work.
