Default What LSD/ Rear end should I go with?

I am almost ready to buy a rear end for my car and not sure which to go with. Alot of people use the torsen but is it really worth it for me to spend 11-1200 for a rear end off a 12 year old car? I want something that will hold 250whp with ease and wont mind being launched since i will be drag racing it along with road racing it.

buy a 1.8 open. and/or swap in a rx7 lsd.
or
buy a 86-88 rx7 non-turbo rear, and find a miata pinon gear/housing and swap that in.

you should be able to at least do a 1.8 open rear swap for under $400, if you play your cards right.

driveshafts are $25-30 + shipping
axles are $100-150 + shipping
rear assembly, $100-300 + shipping
seals $20

Find a cheaper Torsen. Shouldn't cost you 1100-1200. You need to find a new used parts place.

Or keep your eye out here. I just sold a torsen swap (minus axles) for 600. Which is about what I spent on my own torsen swap.

Don't pay what the big parting out guys charge... they have a decent corner on the market and they know it.

If I did it again.. I'd probably get an open and put a rebuilt rx7 clutch lsd in.

The RX-7 has the clutch type rear while the Torsen is just what the name claims to be. Read about the differences between the two. If your going to be doing some serious launching (drag/drift) where you ALWAYS want the rears locked, you will want the RX-7

guys i want to start collecting bits and pieces for my rear end. I will most probably get a 1.8 OPEN diff with a RX7 lsd. JUst confused. Are the driveshafts all compatible? Im seeing 2000 driveshafts n soo forth. I want to get the newest if possible. Will that work fine with a 94 open diff? and the axles, are they the same also?
