A ca18det. Hows this for a mad tyte jdm dorifto machine?

So this guy went through all the effort of a sr20 swap, and only put a ca18 in. I don't understand.

I really don't get the obsession people have with these pile of **** engines.

My experience with them:

 

I'd take a CA over an SR any ******* day.

Doesn't make the swap any less retarded.

 

Really? I don't know enough about them to say. I know my brother has a sr20 in his s14 and it's healthy, made 280whp. I just assumed the ca18 was older/shittier and thus worse.

What makes it better than an sr?

 

More durable valvetrain design, better rod/stroke/bore ratios, and i like old things.

 

Why would you swap out one crappy 1.8 for another crappy 1.8? lol

 

Well, since they're both 1.8s, it's direct fit, duh.

I don't understand how people can possibly think drivetrain fabrication is less work than rods.

 

At least a rb25/26 actually can make a fuckload of power with a stock motor. I wouldn't build a miata with that boat anchor in the front though personally.

 

I think the worst motor you could swap into a Miata is the 1.8T Volkswagen motor. I had a GTI once, and it was the most unreliable piece of crap.

 

Cool story bro. That car sucked because of the car, not the motor.
