WTFFFFFF Alternator wierdness???????
I have a NB with a NB alternator.
Today, I swapped alternators because I saw signs that my alternator was dying or weaksauce as indicated by voltage drop under boost.
So I swapped, and took a drive and logged. The new alternator worked great. I stopped to look at the logs and voltage was nice and stable around 14v instead of dropping to 12v.
I peel out and the car starts to miss and run like shi. I pull over and look at my EMS display and see voltage is now at 10.5v I pop the hood and see oops, the battery strap on the alternator fell off because i didn't nut it down.
I fire the car up again and drive off, and despite the strap being attached, the voltage is still 10.5v
WTF????? I have dyno day tomorrow and need to fix this now.

If you ran for a while off the battery, it'll need to charge, usually 10-20 minutes of driving with a good alternator will charge a battery that barely started the car a few minutes earlier.
Throw the battery on a trickle charger over night and see if it changes.

Swapped the nb alt for na alt.
Blah. This self regulatig alt sucks.
When i turn on the lights, voltage drops by .5. Turn on blower and same thing happens.
13v steady my ***.
For the one minute my nb alt worked voltage was steady at 14v even with lights on. Sigh.

Argh damn it. In an attempt to make my dyno day i did rewire for the NA alternator. It can be undone, but ugh.
I hope the RX7 alternator doesn't suck because I think I will go to that.
