Mesgasquirt & LC-1 Group Buy!

It seems there are a lot of people that are interested in purchasing a MS soon, but dont really know what to get and would like a good deal.. And it looks like those of us that were going to buy a PnP from Adam may be out of luck.

Here is what i propose...

Lets get a group of people together that are ready to buy now.. Gather all the information we can from the people that have done this already.. and then buy all the stuff at one time, and try to get a good deal.. If you guys can figure out what parts are needed to put together a nice PnP box, i dont mind building them.. But i dont know what it takes. If i can get a wireing diagram then i can build them.

What do you guys think?:ugh2:

miatamania 01-26-2007 09:12 AM

the assembled ms1 v3 stuff is $330 from DIY autotune....+ the open element sensor...+ some random wires + the lc1...came to about $550

I'd prolly put mine together, but if we can get the hook-up on price that'd be sweet...I've heard when we order if we just tell them its for a miata they will throw in the resistors and wires we need to mod it.

The idea aussie driver put out about if we have enough people to see if they will do the board mods isn't a bad idea either lol.

adbradley 01-26-2007 09:49 AM

thats what im sayin, i think if we get a group of 4 or 5 then we might get a deal on price... 4*550 is 2200 bucks... so they might give us a discount..

looks like you and I are in.. we need a couple more

adbradley 01-30-2007 12:20 PM

Here is the deal, If we can get 5 people to buy kits, and 2 people to buy LC-1's Here are the prices..

For a MS I PCBv3.0 Kit 179
For a MS I PCBv3.0 completely Built 305

Lc1 179

I will be buying one Lc1, and a MS kit, so i need 4 more people buying kits, and one person buying an LC-1 and we can save some $$

PM me, or e-mail me at adbradley@terracon.com

Thanx:eek5:

cjernigan 01-30-2007 12:35 PM

I'm up for a MSI PCBv3.0 kit. Already have my wideband.

GTS Miata 01-30-2007 01:21 PM

we'd still have to source a harness of some sort to make this plug-n-play, right?

adbradley 01-30-2007 02:19 PM

well, actualy Arkmage sent me the wiring diagram on how to make one like Kingof337 was making... It is for a 97 engine, so you would have to check wire colors.

Arkmage 01-30-2007 04:08 PM

I even included a link to the wiring diagrams you'd need for other years in that e-mail ;)

Atlanta93LE 01-30-2007 04:16 PM

Very nice! I'd like the file, even though I may not be doing MS quite yet.

adbradley 01-30-2007 04:28 PM

pm me your e-mail atlanta i will send it to you as long as arkmage doesnt mind

neogenesis2004 01-30-2007 04:44 PM

all miata wiring diagrams can be found here http://www.madracki.com/miata/wiring.html
it is probably the same pdfs you are talking about emailing.

Atlanta93LE 01-30-2007 04:47 PM

If that's the case, I have those already.

adbradley 01-30-2007 04:50 PM

Come on Atlanta, get on the band wagon, you could at least get in for a $179 LC-1!!

wildfire0310 01-30-2007 05:03 PM

let check on funds and get back but I hope to be able to get both.

Question.. is the built coming with the miata mod?

adbradley 01-30-2007 05:05 PM

What miata mod are you talking about? If you mean the mod to get the CAS signal, i doubt it. If you mean the PnP Kingof337 thing, defanitly not.

adbradley 01-30-2007 05:06 PM

we have 2 MS buyers and 1 LC1 buyer counting myself, just need 1 more LC1 buyer and 3 more MS buyers

Sorry... What I was asking was will include removing the jumpers needed?

One of the mods I was asking about was the CAS signal mod.

adbradley 01-30-2007 05:21 PM

yeah, i dont think they will do that, im pretty sure they will include the parts... but hell maybe they will i guess i should ask.

Atlanta93LE 01-30-2007 06:02 PM

Unless you're getting the MS as well, no real reason to jump on this LC-1. You can snag them at $180 shipped new from ebay any day of the week.

(Wish I had the guts and time to do an MS install right now.)

adbradley 01-30-2007 08:50 PM

ive never seen them for 180 shipped on e-bay, i will have to check it out.. hes giving us 25 bucks off on the assembled ms's thats not bad

Atlanta93LE 01-30-2007 08:53 PM

nope, not bad at all.

Here is the LC-1 on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/INNOV...spagenameZWDVW

iWeasel410 01-30-2007 09:12 PM

Does the LC-1 for 180 include shipping? I've been looking at picking up the one on ebay listed in the previous post.

Atlanta93LE 01-30-2007 09:16 PM

No affiliation. $169.95 + $9.95 ~ $180.

The schematic I included is for connecting a MS in parallel with the stock ECU using a switch box. It includes instructions for how to do it kingofl33ts way (in the case) if you want to do it that way. The link to the miata diagrams is just so you can adjust the wire codes to your year... everything else (except the TPS input) would remain the same.

Atlanta93LE 01-30-2007 09:29 PM

I got it, and it looks great! Nice work, and thank you.

anyway I could get that at well? is it online somewhere I could download it?

cjernigan 01-30-2007 11:31 PM

What all else is needed. Right now i'm looking at:
MSI V3.0 Kit
USB Adapter
12" Wires with names on them to build my parallel harness
Lead Bending Tool
Whatever resistors/jumpers he includes to do the miata mods

What else would i need for my '99, planning to use stock sensors unless i decide later on that i want to use a GM CLT sensor or something. I also have a '97 CAS to be installed for this as well.
Is a pullup resistor kit needed?

adbradley 01-31-2007 10:39 AM

yeah, i think you need the pullup resistor kit

adbradley 01-31-2007 10:41 AM

yeah looks like i will be getting my LC-1 on e-bay

magnamx-5 01-31-2007 12:14 PM

dammit i just bought the rx7 lsd you lucky people with healthy tax returns. :(

miatamania 01-31-2007 12:20 PM

the price on the assembled MS isn't bad though.

Depending on when you do it I'd be down. I've got a lot of crap to do though before then.

adbradley 01-31-2007 12:50 PM

im hoping to get this thing wrapped up in the next 30 days

if i cant get enuff takers by then then im going to just have to buy one at normal price

adbradley 01-31-2007 01:28 PM

DIYautotune miata mods

ok here is some information i got from Jerry at DIYautotune.....

Adam Bradley wrote:
For the people ordering complete kits, do they come with the CAS mod, and appropriate parts removed that need to be completed for it to work with the miata?

Jerry wrote:

We can arrange that but in would be at additional cost for the mods-- we can price that out for you though if you've like. For the Miata you've got the igntion input and output mods, and if you want control of the idle valve you need the idle circuit modded for PWM idle valve control as well. Let me know and we can figure out a package price for the assembled units with the mods.

-Jerry

I just checked and it's normally $72 for the mods described (ignition and PWM IAC), for this group buy we'll do it for $62. So your assembled units, modded up for the early 90's Miata will be $330-$25+$62 = $367 each.

Thanks,

Jerry

So it looks like for $367 For the unit professionaly built, and with all the mods to run a 90s miata even with PMW control. I think this is what i will be going with..

What do you guys think?

GTS Miata 01-31-2007 01:28 PM

if the discount was more on the kit I'd be interested, but it looks like it is only 10 bucks? (or am I missing something?)

Arkmage: I'd be interested in seening that schematic as well. scott.douglas at yahoo.com

adbradley 01-31-2007 01:59 PM

yeah, only 10 bucks.. but hey 10 bucks is 10 bucks

the assembled kit with the mods done is a much better deal

Arkmage 02-01-2007 08:52 AM

If you price out the cost of getting all the components yourself instead of buying the kit you will see that you are saving about $25 buying it as a kit. They probably arn't making more than $25-30 on each kit they sell so knocking $10 off is pretty generous.

Thank you, i agree..

Not to mention they are miata people that have put effort into making this unit easier to use in the miata.. thats gotta be worth something

miatamania 02-02-2007 12:22 AM

so thats 367...we just need to wire it up to the stock ECU?

What else do we need to buy? Just the sensors, cables, vacuum line...random other little things?

EDIT: Check out miata.net and see if anybody wants in on a group buy...
if we are allowed to do that over there...might help out a bit.

neogenesis2004 02-02-2007 12:30 AM

If you have any accessories that trigger from a map signal you'll need to have a wire come out of the MS from pin 1 on the map sensor (the pin with the divot in it). If the idea of cutting into your harness isn't that attractive to you then at least buy some vampire connectors from pepboys or something. The MS, the MS harness, a vac line, and whatever means you want to use to connect the wires to the engine harness are all that you will need (barebones). There are other neater methods but they cost more and are further diy.

miatamania 02-02-2007 12:37 AM

Kinda like that little box w/ a switch that somebody posted up?

neogenesis2004 02-02-2007 12:42 AM

no idea

miatamania 02-02-2007 12:55 AM

I just saw it the other day...someone had a PnP box that kept things clean.

sounds like hte same list of parts i have, i'm having trouble figuring this one out myself

Savington 02-02-2007 01:54 AM

If I go in on this GB, all I need is:

MSV3 w/ board mods
LC1
Wiring pigtails or full harness, depending on where I decide to stick the MS unit
Tuning cable
GM IAT

Right? I'd love to do this, as long as I'm not missing major components, or being required to build my own wiring harness. I can deal with vampire clips.

adbradley 02-02-2007 08:37 AM

IMm pretty sure the wiring harness from the MS unit is included... then you just have to tap into your miata harness... If you look at the diagram that arkmage has uploaded, you will get a better idea of how it works.. the wiring doesnt look to be that hard at all.

You tap into the input signals (CAS, iat, 02) and then you hook the outputs (spark control, injector control) to switches that lets you switch control back and forth between the MS or the stock ECU... seems pretty simple to me.

adbradley 02-02-2007 08:38 AM

i think so far chad is the only one that has confirmed that he is in.. if you want to be included in this GB, please PM me and let me know.. As soon as i have enough people, and there money all gathered together, im going to order.

adbradley 02-02-2007 08:43 AM

to to keep this simple for me here is my plan, im going to get the board that is modded.. Tap into the inputs comming from the engine, and leave them attatched to the stock ecu as welll... Then im going to get simple male and female connectors. I will cut the output wires before they go into the stock ecu and put male connectors on the leads comming from the engine, then female connectors on the leads comming from the MS, and female connectors on the leads comming from the Stock ECU. Then i can just unplug the outputs from the MS, and connect them back to the stock ECU any time i want..

miatamania 02-02-2007 09:16 AM

I'd love to jump in on this, but I can't do anything until I get my taxes back...however, my b-day is coming up...maybe I should ask for something early :)

Arkmage 02-02-2007 09:18 AM

the MS will include the DB37 connector for the harness, but not the wires. You will need to get some wire and solder the harness together. I made the mistake of paying an extra $10 for a DB37 for the harness as it wasn't in the list of included components of the kit, so I have two now.

adbradley 02-02-2007 09:41 AM

miatamania... it will prolly bee another 30 days before this all goes down... so that gives you a month to get the $$ together

Good ol Gord!

Re MS and LC-1 group buy

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi,
Just a note to explain why your post was locked - see the Guidelines section on Group buys.

Normally, we'd want you to clear a group buy with us before posting it. In this case, I'm pretty sure none of the forum sponsors sell the MegaSquirt , and maybe only 1 or 2 sell the LC-1, so I think it's OK to proceed.

Let me know if you have any questions!

adbradley 02-02-2007 11:22 AM

gotta protect the F-ing sponsors!!

Arkmage 02-02-2007 11:44 AM

if none of the sponsors sell MS then how are they being protected by locking the group buy thread? I hate m.net

adbradley 02-02-2007 11:49 AM

oh tis LC1 some of them sell the lc-1 what a fag

miatamania 02-02-2007 12:19 PM

ah least its just locked not deleted.

Fireindc 02-02-2007 01:45 PM

I would be interested, but really at this point there is no way i could go through with a MS install- im still nervous about installing my bipes this weekend.

Good luck though.

Al Hounos 02-02-2007 04:23 PM

Wow, that is unbelievably lame of m.net.

I remember reading a MS related thread over there, where keith from FM said the MS had some bugs, but they were "looking into it" or something. interesting.

adbradley 02-02-2007 04:36 PM

HAHAHAHAHAH just think how much money you could make selling MS units that were PnP for various cars... If you were a MS guru so to speak

Savington 02-02-2007 04:47 PM

AdBrad, that seems simple enough. I'll have the cash in 2 weeks. I'm in.

Why would you ever reconnect to the stock ECU? Tee hee hee. :gay:
