When I spoke with Phil at Element AND Jeremy at FM they both told me that there would be a 2.7 upgrade cost for ALL current hydra owners. 2.x etc.

Anyone know when 2.7 will be available?

I'd call FM and ask.

Threat necromancy but I will update, I was informed that 2.7 is still a ways out, there's some kinks that are being fixed. I would wager this would be ready by August with teh current timetable (a few weeks away in October?), but 2.7 sounds like it will have some disgustingly great features.

ON TOPIC: I have DW1000's in the mail, high impedance. I assume these 800s were the same, is this a common idle issue with High Impedance injectors, or was it just the DW800's?

I've got my DW1000's in and the car starts, but I had to put a huge pothole in my fuel map to get the thing to idle during cold start, I was seeing 11.4afr at 130°f and by the time the car hit 180f I was at 10.9afr, adjusting the fuel map up at all causes it to stumble to a lower fuel cell until I adjust it back down.

I cranked the injector timing to 1.250 across the board since the flow sheet has me at 1.5ms at 13v and 1.3ms at 15v. I changed my map in a rather simple fashion, I migrated base-map to VE, changed injector size in settings 1 to 1000cc, then migrated from VE to Base Map.

Am I missing something by chance? I was going to take the car out and see if it will run as-is, but its on jackstands waiting for my new IC for ducting.

I believe the minimum time for the 800s is 1.5ms. Anything under 1.5 is max lean yet a little over 1.5 is very rich at x rpm/load

So what options do I have besides complaining and swapping these out?

Any injector will struggle to be linear at a pulse width under 1.5 ms. Injector Dynamics will be your best bet for low pulse width response. They're high impedance. The quality of their responsiveness is well documented. The quality of the ECU and injector driver will also dictate how well the injector works at low pulse width.

Maybe I missed it, but what's your fuel pressure?

I honestly haven't checked, I'm running stock FPR out of a 97, and a Walbro 190 (not HP), so I'd guess 43.5psi (3bar?)

I've switched to E85 to "reduce" the injectors to about 600s.. i have not gotten a steadier idle other than stock. Now during deceleration at 20kpa i'm still hitting the cells that require lower than 1.5ms to be even but i'm running them at the minimum and i get ~13-12 afr

I'm assuming 1k on E85 should average being about 700-750 in comparison to octane.

I wonder if I can talk Jeremy into getting in on a trial run of 2.7, since it apparently fixes these issues...

I set max latency and then set my idle fuel to .275 for all cells between 600 and 400 mmHg. Idles around 13.5-14.5, it's better then it was, now to wait for it to stop raining so I can tune the cells while driving..

You'll have issues with 20-40 kpa transitions if the 20kpa cells are just shutting down.

I'm having issues with throttle and getting going, that's for sure. Going to talk to Jeremy tomorrow to see what can be done, and try to weasel out of them a date for hydra 2.7...

I'm assuming the initial stepping on the gas goes to lean? Try adding enrichment's.

I got a map from Jeremy for their ID1000 E85 car, cut 30% fuel off the top and ran autotune (after changing lamda/afr target at idle areas to 13.2 since 14.7 is unobtainable).

There's a few minor issues, such as lowend power loss which I'm guessing is just me going lean, I pulled a log but I have to check it. Essentially I would feel like the bottom end fell out of the car, and a few seconds later a huge surge of power that in first gear breaks the rear end free.

Overall it's a functioning setup, but I would recommend others stick to RC1000's or other low impedance injectors until Hydra 2.7 (Jeremy hinted to it not being ready for a while, some big bugs that will cause others to have problems and ultimately tie him to the phone all day (understandable))

Its not just fuel make sure you cut some timing also as E85 can be advanced more than octane.

Whats the gauge showing when you step on the gas when you get going?

The only thing he moved over was fuel maps and changed the tip-in maps, the timing and such is the same as it was before. I made a big flat spot on the fuel map between 400 and 640mmHg from 500rpm to 2k so the thing would idle when I started it at a reasonable AFR. Wondering if that has anything to do with it..

I'm going to make a new thread, I've taken over enough of this one :P

I did a test and my 600cc hi imped DW injectors want 920 us when cold and 1000 us when warmed up.

FWIW, a few months ago we purchased a variable power supply so we could run the cars & actually calibrate a precise injector response curve for each injector we use, in a Hydra powered Miata. The curves came out quite a bit different than what was on the sheet provided with the injector. In the future I also want to review each to make sure I'm at the proper amplitude, now that I know how to do it. So, with 2.7 & its expanded offset range I have curves for a number of different injectors and the smoothness has definitely improved. I can update your map with any I have upon request, but you'll probably have to re-tune your idle & starting just so you know.
