I want to get a particle track film made into a 4x8' or larger poster.

 

I can print 3'x40'+ on a good day. (depends on when the plotter roll was refilled. Last I checked it was like 72 feet)

 

When you figure this out, let me know so I can also get one

Before we had modern detectors, the above 2 methods for visualizing and recording particle collisions were used, among others im sure... im no expert, the **** just fascinates me. A light was then shown through the cloud chamber so little old ladies could trace them out on tracing paper, and you get this:

Each little spiral or curve is an electron, or proton or whatever subatomic particle. Based on the radius of the curve, and other data, they can determine velocity and particle type, etc.


Now we have computer generations and absolutely nutty sensor arrays, and its all in 3d. Heres today equivalent:

and heres a good example of a bubble chamber in which you can see features of the actual chamber transposed upon the film. you can see a hatch and what appear to be some sort of liner. Im opretty sure this is the bubble detector at Fermi lab pictured in the above wiki link.

Welp, if you truly want a 4x8, that's pretty tough. You can easily get 2x3 on photo paper either as the whole picture or make an arrangement of several pics that comprise the whole.

Or you can do 2x8 on heavy regular paper of the top half of the trace and then the bottom half and butt them together. Or tack them to frames with a small space between them. Shop: Photo Banners: Photo Banner Designs
