EGR is removed. It’s weird because it makes the sound even when the motor isn’t running as you can see in the video so it’s some sort of signal going to something. Just not sure what.

Here’s another couple of videos.

Idle valve frequency may be too low. Try unplugging it and see if it goes away. If that fixes it, raise the frequency.

That's exactly where the sound seems to be coming from. I'll check it out. Thanks.

There's obviously a woodpecker inside your intake tract.

Thieves **** me off.

Over the past week, in my after-hours time, I've been setting up a new workshop in the basement of the building. Because of the new TV network that we're going to launch later in the year (and the 120 new employees being hired to staff it,) I got kicked out of the 2'nd floor corner office which I'd been using as a shop space. To be fair, it's one of the nicest offices in the building, and I'm amazed that I got away with it for three and a half years.

The new space is... less glamorous.

As I was moving stuff down here, the janitor informed me that stuff has been disappearing out of that room lately. Trivial little **** like small hand tools, and cups and utensils from the corner where he's set up a little lunch area for himself. So obviously I bought yet another security camera. It arrived Friday, and I installed it yesterday afternoon.

Wouldn't you know it? This morning as I came in to finish the electrical work, I found that a set of drill bits which I'd left on the workbench last night was gone.

Now, I can't stand that kind of ****. You don't steal from me, especially in my own TV station. If you want something, ask me, and chances are that I'll just give it to you and expense the replacement. But theft crosses a line.

Let's cue the replay:

Mother ******.

Here's the best part: I can prove with forensic accuracy that it was him, despite the jacket and hood obscuring his face. How, you may ask? Easy. Our building security system contains a number of RFID checkpoints embedded in the walls in key locations. As part of their routine walkaround duties, the security guards have to scan each checkpoint with a company-provided smartphone (each guard has their own phone) at least once per hour. It's a modern version of the old watchman-clock idea.

Immediately after he pocketed my drill bits, this genius scanned the RFID tag embedded in the wall next to that door in the background, with his personally-traceable device, while remaining in view of the camera the whole time.

Guess who is unemployed as of a few hours ago?

To re-state: Don't steal from me.

EDIT: Also, don't steal from the janitor. Yes, he's a little rough around the edges (I wouldn't let my daughter date him), but he's an honest, hard-working guy, and we're friends. You steal from him, under my roof, and you might as well be stealing from me. Either way, it ends badly.

Anybody dumb enough to risk their job for a set of drill bits gets what they deserve.

Some-what related

The recycle ******** at the office where I work sometimes have some crazy stuff in them. Like worth hundreds or even thousands of dollars stuff, or what usually catches my eye, tools and raw materials. Verbal permissions have been given at the Sr. Director level to take stuff, but in a corporation of over 60000 employees, you never know. I had to stop looking because at times it was almost too much.
