Why are they so high in the water? I heard that they were all full, sitting around, storing oil.
There are a lot of tankers full sitting around at anchor thanks to the price war between Saudi Arabia and Russia. However the majority of those are ULCC/VLCC so much bigger than the one in the picture. There are thousands of tankers around the world so the number that are sitting full at idle is relatively small. As for the ones in this picture, I would surmise they are waiting to load having traveled in ballast from wherever they discharged their previous cargo.
