I've often wondered why Honda continued using mechanical distributors well into the 21st century, long past the time when most (all?) other mainstream Asian automakers had switched to distributorless ignition.
Like, did Honda know something that eluded the rest of the world? Were they being Luddites? Was there one specific individual high up in their technical management who had very firmly-held beliefs about that one specific thing?

There are some really awesome Honda things about that car, the dizzy was not one of them. The access ports to remove the upper shock bolts was one. Or putting the crank bolt in just the perfect location, that with the wheel turned I could access and break free with the car on the ground so the motor wouldn't spin.
pro-tip: jack stands make awesome crazy-extension supporters.

So I made these...
Cost next to nothing, powder coated bright red to avoid trips and whatnot, and they make ride height adjustment, etc a breeze.
Adjustable for different rim/tire sizes and multiple holes for the Miatae, an Evo 9 and a Modena 360.
Back of the napkin sketch to the laptop, laser cut, media blasted and powder coated.
Yes, this is that rust bucket '03 I posted a little while ago.
