Both of the bowling alleys near me have now gone out of business due to covid.

 

Omega Man was a good movie.

Not so much the recent Fresh Prince remake.

So the problem I've always had with driving sims is that I have zero sense of how fast I'm going. I can't brake for corners, either I end up going WAY too slow or flying off the track. I used to play the various Gran Turismo games on assorted playstations, but gave up somewhere in GT4 because of this.

Recently I decided to try out Assetto Corsa on my new gaming PC to see if this was still an issue. Yup, definitely still an issue. So I loaded it up on my Valve Index (Half Life Alyx is freaking awesome, BTW) and tried it out there. That actually DOES fix the problem, suddenly I was able to do more than 3 corners at Laguna Seca (a track I've driven over 50 times in real life) without flying off.

Unfortunately my inner ear didn't really enjoy the experience. It didn't make me actually puke, but 30 minutes was definitely more than I really wanted.

It definitely takes time to get used to not getting any feeling through the seat. But you do get it eventually. I think the first time I tried at a friends house, with him coaching me, it took 1-1.5 hours before I could but together a clean lap with no 4 offs or anything. I stepped up to a Fanatec wheel and pedals when I built my old sim (wish I hadn't sold it) and was much quicker. But I could never close down that last 0.7-9 seconds per lap to be one of the fastest guys each season in Spec MX-5 in iRacing.

AC was terrible for me to drive on my sim. It's too arcade-like, like Gran Turismo.

Thanks for posting this. It seems every kit wants to sell a cheap seat with it without an option to not include it.

 

The only problem is, I'm not sure it's a good deal. For $150 more, you get the pedal plate, wheel mount, slider, and seat mount.

Love it but that "roll" hoop is way too low.. like right in the back of his head on every bump low.
