In the past five minutes, I have seen two different pieces of sponsored content which I initially assumed to be satire, based solely on the image which accompanied the headline.

Then I realized that neither one was satire. And that some writers need to be more aware of the stock-art which they select.

In particular, try to be aware of current memes.

That... is Skylab. Launched by the US in 1973.

And probably more notably, hasn't done an orbit for the last 40 years after it graced the land down under as a fireball.

Well... yeah. "Crashing down to earth" is what normally happens to space stations and other low-orbital vehicles once they reach the end of their service life.

This one wasn't even clickbait per se, as the article delivered what it promised. It just did so from the perspective of a person who knows absolutely nothing about spaceflight.

A few days ago, in the Politics thread, I de-bunked one of Braineack's links by drilling through to the "Become A Paid Contributor" page of The Daily Caller, where they proudly proclaim that literally anyone, with no experience or qualifications, can get hired to write for their site at a rate of $20 per article. This kind of article is what that kind of policy gets you.

Anyway, this is the random pictures thread. So here is a mockup of one section of the Large Relativistic Donkey Collider which a joint partnership consisting of George Soros, The Christian Science Monitor, and Hyundai are proposing to construct in order to unlock the secrets of the Bible:

I remember the media hype panic that we'd have a space station land in our gardens.....

and tv footage of people selling hardhats as protection - like that would be effective

I had a vague idea in my head for a clock that worked like that, only I could never quite figure out the specifics. Cool to see someone actually do it.
