Really!? You too?

We have had a very wet 12-18 months, and the spider population has exploded. Webs everywhere, places no webs have been before, and as soon as you clean them off they reappear. Good for the birds, they go around my windows daily gobbling them up. That's another unusual thing, the birds have had two broods this season, maybe that is behind the spider boom too.

Sydney funnel-web spider (Atrax robustus), Australia's most deadly spider:

Fortunately none around here, though their range may be expanding.

At Blamey Barracks, the New South Wales army training barracks near Wagga Wagga, one of the first things they train the cadets to do is to pick up each boot by the toe, slam it down on the heel and turn the boot upside down to tip out any potential Funnel Web spiders, before putting it on.

Funnel Web spiders love warm, damp holes and boots are the perfect habitat - and there's plenty of Funnel Web spiders in Wagga Wagga.

Many continue doing this for the rest of their lives, regardless of where they live.

^^ Yeah, but then you'd have a car that was only fun for 7-8 seconds, versus a car that would be fun ALL DAY

Florida Man needs to step up his game.
