+1. Ridiculously awesome movie in 3D.

*spoiler

The only thing that irked me was when Jake got off the plane in the wheelchair, and the Marines were making fun of him/pitying. NO ONE in any division would EVER do that.

Agree, Cococarbine. It'd be more a thing to revere him for versus ridicule. I've gotten used to Hollywood (read: the entire media) misunderstanding (and often outright lying) about the military so it didn't phase me much.

Yeah, sure, we laughed at Jake, but what's wrong with laughter? Just because we laugh at something doesn't mean we don't care about it. Jake made us smile, and fighting made Jake smile, so where was the harm in that? The people that are wrong are the ones that think people like Jake should be "protected" and kept out of the public's eye. The cool thing about Jake being in the military was that he was in your face, and you had to deal with him, whether you laughed or cried, or felt nothing. That's why Jake rules!

Plus, I don't recall seeing anything in the Pocahontas story about awesome mech suits, space travel, CF-reinforced skeletons, Taruq Maqto, or using brainwaves to drive a genetically-engineered hybrid body.
+1

I thought it was freaking awesome.

lol @ Fern Gully 2...nice. Even still. I liked it.

The movie was pretty awesome, but my girlfriend ruined it on the way out of the theater for me by saying it was the same as Pocahontas. I must send her that summary at the top there.

Good point. But frankly its just damned annoying when the military gets portrayed the way it was. Its a lot like how people would probably feel if they did a movie portraying one political party or the other as an incredibly evil pack of sociopaths. Or a movie showing black people as violent, white people as nerds, hispanics as sleazeballs, Jews as stingy, Irish as drunks, people from the South as rednecks, etc. Basically, it sucks when people just blast out stupid stereotypes. Unless its a commedy, in which case it can be damned funny. Ironically, I think I am more annoyed than any of the military people I know. So you have a good point there.

Nobody is saying ban the ****. Its just that it's pretty ******* lame when a bunch of idiots in Hollywood have to take a visually awesome movie and use it for what amounts to political grafitti. I dont why it is that being an actor/actress makes some people feel the need to put out their opinion in one form or another on every subject under the sun, but its lame.

I thought they made it pretty clear that they were essentially hired mercenaries, not military. Pretty much Blackwater in the 22nd century.

I actually look at this movie more like Independence Day than the aliens beat the humans. The humans WERE the aliens. Aliens come to take over the planet. Locals fight back with inferior weapons. Locals destroy aliens. Locals win.

Movie sucked ***. I also can't see 3D, it just doesn't work for my eyes. Plot was boring, and I just couldn't give two ***** about those blue elves.

Everyone but me loves this movie film apparently.

Two very good points. Jake was a former Marine (though Marines will tell you - there is no such thing), and the head-of-security Colonel was too IIRC. Jake's mission there wasn't even that of one of the mercenaries, since he was to take his brother's spot in the Avatar program, to try and interface with the native population.

But keep the 3D, that was sweet.

Why use proper punctuation while not capitalizing?

**** doesn't have to be capitalized, it is an intensifier.

******* lead off a sentence with a lowercase "f" anytime you like as long as it's attached to the word "****."
