Not much chance of that happening.
I can shoot you a PayPal immediately, just need to hold of shipping until I figure out where I'm going to be living a few weeks from now. |
Had a pretty decent beer weekend
Saturday, the Flying Saucer had a Sour Day event. The Big Boss "Sunday Punch", and the North Coast "Cherry Berlinner" were both perfect Saturday brews. Light and refreshing, though I did break up the sour taste with a Big Boss "Night Knight" Black IPA. Yesterday I had DeStihl's "Sour Cherry Stout" on draft. I want a keg of this at home. So very good! I also took a sneak taste of my 3.5 year old lambic, which I think is ready to be fruited and bottled. |

Just throwing this out there: if any of my CA peeps were to pick up a bottle or three of the w00t for me, and stick 'em in the mail, I'd be grateful.
They had them at my local whole foodses. |

Tried Ballast point Sculpin IPA; not bad but far from my favorite Dogfish Head 90. Interestingly, the clone recipes I found for each have a couple of the same hops; I'm going to have to look in more detail to see why they taste so different to me. The Sculpin seems to have more bittering hops vs aromatic in the 90, though I am easily way off considering the brief review of recipes.

Joe you can get them on the east coast too. They had them at my local whole foodses. Incidentally, I found them today at Costco for $6.99 ea., so I just got another case there and promptly returned all the bottles I bought last night at BevMo for $11.99 ea. (in spite of the BevMo clerk trying to tell me that you can't return alcohol. Pffff! :fawk: ). |
No shit?
When I lived in SD, you had to go to the brewery to get W00tstout 1.0 - Not even the local specialty shops had it. I didn't realize they'd ramped up production so much. |

Heavy Seas TropiCannon Tropical IPA - Never had anything like it. Aromas of the citrus-y hops blend with fruity vapors but aren't but a touch sweet because of the hoppy bitterness keeping it in check. A truly unique and surprising experience.
TropiCannon clocks in at 7.25% & packs a full blast of blood orange, grapefruit, mango and lemon flavor. We've amped up the citrus with fAmarillo and Simcoe hops. We've introduced dried grapefruit, orange and lemon peel in the brewing process and added mango, blood orange and more grapefruit post-fermentation. |

Well, truth be told, the Costco near me (Concord) is pretty phenomenal with the stuff they come up with. I think the local buyer is an enthusiast him/herself, and I doubt it is the norm across all stores. In contrast, I actually had to call 4 or 5 Bevmo stores in the area until I found one that carried it last night. Regardless, I'm quite sure the production has indeed ramped up significantly on this year's w00t due to its ever increasing popularity/demand alone.
Remotely related trivia: This year is the 30th anniversary of "Stand By Me". Edit: Or I can trade it for an unusual local brew if you like. Straight to Ale, Blue Pants, Salty Nut, and some of the others all have some stellar beers. |

What's a guy got to do to get in on this W00tstout gig? I have PayPal and I'm not afraid to use it.

My best friend lives in Seattle and is flying down this weekend for business, so he's bringing me a whole bunch of Melvin IPAs and 2x4 DIPAs. I can't get them in CA and their single IPA is the best I've ever had, Pliny the Elder included. Super excited.

My niece and a couple of her coworkers came over tonight and wanted to "try some stout beers", so I obliged.
